COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – The Utah Valley University women's golf team posted a 16th-place finish at Gonzaga's Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday with a three-round total of 66-over-par 918. Freshman
Leighton Shosted led the way for the Wolverines by tying for 35th with an 11-over-par 224 at 54-hole event at Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
The true freshman Shosted saved her best round for last by carding a collegiate-best 2-over 73 on Tuesday. Shosted recorded a birdie and her first collegiate eagle on the day after carding a two on the 254-yard par-4 17th hole. She also posted rounds of 77 and 74 earlier at the event to record the 11-over 224.
"We had some solid scores throughout the tournament. Our freshman Leighton had a great finish and led the team," head UVU coach
Juli Erekson said. "After the front nine today, we were +15 and finished +19, so it was a great finish after a rocky start. We're continuing to focus on what we need to do and have patience in the process. These girls are good. We'll get to our goals soon!"

Bailey Henley was next for UVU by tying for 58th with a 17-over-par 230. Henley recorded scores of 78, 77 and 75 on her way to tying for 58th. Sophomore
Victoria Estrada followed by tying for 67th with a 19-over 232 (81-76-75), while sophomore
Macy Robertson Murphy tied for 76th (76-76-82—234) and sophomore
Lauren Taylor placed 88th (82-80-80—242).
UVU finished 16th at the event with a 66-over 918 after recording scores of 312, 303 and 303.
Hawai'i won the 17-team Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invite with a 20-over-par 872 (290-298-284), while Sacramento State finished one stroke back to take second (873), and the host Gonzaga Bulldogs placed third (875). Hawai'i's Momo Sugiyama claimed medalist honors with a 1-under-par 212 (73-71-68), while Oral Robert's Kiana Oshiro earned runner-up honors at even-par (71-72-70—213).
The Wolverines will now come back to Orem before returning to the Pacific Northwest to take part at Seattle U's Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational on Oct. 11-12 at Tacoma Country & Golf Club in Lakeview, Wash.
