OREM, Utah – Utah Valley wrestling head coach Greg Williams announced that four wrestlers have signed National Letters of Intent to join the UVU program for the upcoming 2023-2024 season. The Wolverines signed two from FloWrestling Top 100 Big Board.
"We are excited about this group of young men. They are serious student-athletes with big goals in the classroom and on the mat. They have the focused work ethic that we are looking for in our program. We are looking forward to working with each of them and helping them reach their goals," said UVU head coach Greg Williams.
Q'Veli Quintanilla hails from Spokane, Washington, and was the No. 80 recruit on the FloWrestling Big Board for 2023. The two-time Washington state champion also has won the NHSCA Folkstyle national championship and the Greco Fargo national title. Quintanilla is a five-time All-American.
Jakob Romero hails from Pomoma, Colorado, and was the No. 98 recruit on the FloWrestling Big Board for 2023. The two-time Colorado state champion and three-time state finalist. Romero earned All-American honors with a third-place finish at the USA Folkstyle Nationals.
Kayd Craig joins the UVU program from Gooding, Idaho. The two-time Idaho state champion is 147-7 in his high school career. He placed third at the 2022 USA Preseason Nationals while finishing as the runner-up at the 2019 USMC Cadet National Championships, and the 2020 USA Folkstyle Nationals.
Trevor Frank is a two-time All-American and has placed three times at the Utah state tournament, including a fourth-place finish in 2022. The Santaquin, Utah native is a previous USA Western States Champion.
Utah Valley will compete on Dec. 2-3 at the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas. The home schedule will open with Northern Iowa on Jan. 13 inside Lockhart Arena.
