ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley's
Brady McKinlay has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for October.
McKinlay, a senior from Lacombe, Alberta, Canada, won a pair of tournaments for the Wolverines during a successful October, beginning at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite, Oct. 3-4, at the Boulder Country Club in Boulder, Colorado. McKinlay shined with rounds of 69-68-66=203 (-7) to win medalist honors by one stroke and was one of two players in the 92-player field with all three rounds in the 60s on the par-70, 7,106-yard setup. McKinlay was also second in the field with 13 total birdies and two eagles.
McKinlay added another title at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational, Oct. 10-11, at the Crestview Country Club in Wichita, Kansas. McKinlay won by seven strokes at 11-under-par 202 (66-67-69). McKinlay was the tournament scoring average leader on par-3s (3.00, E) and par-4s (3.79, -7) and rolled in 17 birdies to pace all players.
McKinlay has now won three straight tournaments as he also won the Ram Masters Invitational in September at Fort Collins Country Club with a three-round score of 9-under-par 201 (71-66-64).
McKinlay will continue the 2022-23 season in February when Utah Valley opens its spring season at the Southern Utah Pat Hicks Invitational, Feb. 11-13, at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, Utah.
