UVU hosts St. Thomas, travels to Utah State

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley returns home for the first time since its season-opening win on Nov. 7 to host St. Thomas on Thursday at 6 p.m. MT in the UCCU Center. The Wolverines will also travel to Logan to face Utah State on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. MT. Thursday's game will air live on ESPN+ while Saturday's contest against the Aggies will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

UVU (1-4) is coming off a stretch of four straight road contests, most recently at Portland State last Saturday, a 73-55 loss to the Vikings. Jaeden Brown and Shay Fano had 11 points each to lead the Wolverines while Eleyana Tafisi snagged a career-high 10 rebounds. Brown leads the team with averages of 10.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
St. Thomas and Utah Valley will meet for the first time in each program's history on Thursday. The Tommies are in their second season competing at the NCAA DI level after moving from Division III prior to last season. St. Thomas is 2-3 after a narrow 75-71 overtime defeat at Illinois Chicago on Sunday. Jade Hill is averaging 14.6 points to lead the Tommies in scoring.

Utah State is 1-5 entering a Thursday game at Weber State and will face UVU for the 16th time in the history of the programs on Saturday. USU leads the all-time series 9-6 and if 5-1 at home. The Aggies won their season opener before dropping five straight, including a 79-48 decision at USC on Saturday. Mayson Kimball is averaging 13.2 points per game while former UVU guard Maria Carvalho has averages of 11.0 points and 6.8 rebounds. Carvalho is one of 10 players to score 1,000 career points in a Utah Valley uniform and ranks second all-time in minutes played during her four seasons in Orem.

The Wolverines will play home twice next week, with games Wednesday, Dec. 7 against Idaho State and Saturday, Dec. 10 against Northwest Nazarene.
