Utah Valley hosts SAGU American Indian College on Tuesday night at UCCU Center

UTAH VALLEY HOSTS SAGU AMERICAN INDIAN COLLEGE ON TUESDAY NIGHT AT UCCU CENTER

  • After picking up a pair of road wins last week at BYU and Northern Arizona, Utah Valley returns to Orem to host SAGU American Indian College on Tuesday night at the UCCU Center. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
     
  • Le'Tre Darthard and Trey Woodbury each scored 16 points while Aziz Bandaogo recorded a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead Utah Valley to an 80-75 overtime road win over Northern Arizona on Saturday afternoon in Flagstaff.
     
  • Justin Harmon scored a game-high 19 points and Aziz Bandaogo added 14 to lead the Wolverines to a 75-60 win over crosstown rival and future Big 12 foe BYU on Dec. 7 at the Marriott Center in Provo. The win is UVU's second straight victory over the Cougars as UVU took a 72-65 win over BYU last season in Orem.
     
  • Aziz Bandaogo has been named TicketSmarter WAC Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in a pair of Utah Valley road wins last week over BYU and Northern Arizona. Bandaogo averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game over the two games. He scored 14 points with seven rebounds in UVU's 75-60 win over BYU and tallied 15 points with 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in the 80-75 overtime win at Northern Arizona.
     
  • Utah Valley has played three overtime games this season, all on the road. The Wolverines dropped a 68-65 decision at Wake Forest on a last second shot from three. UVU fell 73-72 to Morgan State in Jamaica. UVU then picked up an 80-75 overtime win at Northern Arizona.
     
  • Aziz Bandaogo ranks 10th in double-doubles (5), 14th in the nation in blocks (25), and 15th in blocks per game (2.50). He also ranks 18th nationally in rebounds per game (9.8) and 26th in total rebounds (96). As a team, UVU ranks 16th in the country in blocks per game at 5.6 swats a contest.
BROADCAST INFORMATION
Tuesday night's game against SAGU will be broadcast live on ESPN+, which is available on the ESPN+ App and at ESPNplus.com. Brandon Crow and Josh Kallunki will be on the call for the game. The game will also be broadcast over the Utah County airwaves on ESPN 960 AM with Jim McCulloch on the call.

Southwestern Assemblies of God University American Indian College (SAGU AIC) enters Tuesday's game against the Wolverines with a 3-5 overall record. SAGU-AIC is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association. The team's games against Division I opponents count as exhibition games. SAGU has played one other Division I opponent this season, falling 115-63 in Flagstaff. The Warriors have won two straight at home with an 73-57 win over Benedictine Mesa and an 89-68 win over Haskell. In the win over Haskell, Freshman guard/forward Rob Jenkins led the team with 20 points, followed by freshman guard Reggie Mickens-Orr with 19. Junior forward Keyshawn Celestino-Clyde leads the team in scoring at 20.1 points a game. Jenkins also averages double digits at 12.6 points a contest. Celestino-Clyde also leads the team on the boards, pulling down 10.1 rebounds a game. As a team, SAGU averages 68.5 points a game while allowing opponents an average of 72.9 points a contest. 

SERIES HISTORY VS. SAGU
Utah Valley and Southwestern Assemblies of God University American Indian College will meet up on the basketball hardwood for the first time on Tuesday night. Utah Valley holds an all-time perfect 63-0 record against non-Division I schools.

BANDAOGO NAMED TICKETSMARTER WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Utah Valley sophomore center Aziz Bandaogo has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 12. It is the second straight WAC Player of the Week honor for the Wolverines as Le'Tre Darthard earned the award last week.

The sophomore center scored 14 points to go along with seven rebounds and one steal in Utah Valley's 75-60 win over crosstown rival and future Big 12 foe BYU on Dec. 7. He connected on 4 of 5 shots from the field, including a perfect 2 of 2 mark from long range. He also knocked down 4 of 6 shot from the charity stripe. 

Bandaogo recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds in Utah Valley's 80-75 overtime road win at Northern Arizona. He also two blocks and a pair of assists. He scored his 15 points on a 6 of 8 clip from the field and a 3 of 4 performance at the free throw line. 

Over his two games last week, Bandaogo averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals. He shot an impressive 76.9 percent (10-13) from the field and 70 percent (7-10) from the free throw line. 

UTAH VALLEY DEFEATS CROSSTOWN RIVAL BYU IN PROVO, 75-60
Justin Harmon scored a game-high 19 points and Aziz Bandaogo added 14 to lead Utah Valley to a 75-60 win over crosstown rival and future Big 12 foe BYU on Wednesday night at the Marriott Center. The win is the second straight victory over the Cougars as UVU took a 72-65 win over BYU last season at the UCCU Center.
