Bailey Henley and
Victoria Estrada all sit in the top 30, as Utah Valley University women's golf is in fifth place out of 16 teams after one round of play at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George.

Fresh off of winning her first collegiate event on Tuesday at the UTRGV Invitational, Shosted continued her stellar week by carding an opening-round 77 to sit in a tie for 19th place after 18 holes of play at Sunbrook Golf Club. The freshman Shosted recorded four birdies on the day en route to posting the opening-round 5-over.Â

The senior Henley and reigning WAC champion Estrada are next for UVU, as they each fired 6-over-par 78s on Thursday to sit in a tie for 27th place. Henley and Estrada both carded a pair of birdies on the day.Â

Sophomore
Anna Lesa is next for UVU with a 7-over-par 79 to sit in a tie for 35th place, while fellow sophomore
Caylyn Ponich is tied for 89th after carding an 89 on Thursday.Â

Playing as individuals at the event, sophomore
Makenzie McMillen had a nice start to the tournament by posting a 7-over 79 to also sit in a tie for 35th. Fellow sophomore and individuals
Lauren Taylor (81) and
Macy Robertson Murphy (88) are tied for 47th and 86th, respectively.Â

As a team, UVU carded a 24-over-par 312 to sit in fifth place at the 16-team field in the team standings. WAC foe Seattle U is leading the tournament with an 11-over 299. South Dakota State and Arkansas State are tied for second at 14-over-par (302), while in-state foe Weber State is in fourth (308). In fifth, UVU is currently ahead of Oral Roberts (313), host Southern Utah (314), North Dakota State (314), Northern Colorado (317), Montana (321), Dixie State (322), Central Michigan (323), CSUN (330), CSU Bakersfield (333), Eastern Washington (334) and Idaho State (341).Â

The Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invite will continue with round two on Friday beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. MT. The tournament will then close on Saturday.Â
