ST. GEORGE, Utah – Freshman
Leighton Shosted fired a 3-over-par 75 on Friday to move into a tie for 15th place after two rounds of play at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George. As a team, the Wolverines are currently in eighth place out of 16 teams after recording a 22-over 310 on the day.

After opening with a 77 on Thursday, Shosted carded a 75 on Friday to move up a couple spots on the individual leaderboard to jump into the top-15. The UVU freshman posted a trio of birdies and 10 pars on Friday en route to recording the second-round 75. She now holds a two-round total of 8-over-par 152 and leads the team in birdies at the three-day event with seven through two rounds of play.

Reigning WAC champion
Victoria Estrada too had a strong second round on Friday by posting a 4-over 76 to move into a tie for 22nd place. Estrada opened with a 78 on Thursday to hold a 10-over-par 154 through two rounds.Â

As a team, UVU is in eighth place after two rounds with a 46-over-par 622 (312-310). WAC foe Seattle U is leading the event (596), while Arkansas State is one shot back for second place (597) and in-state foe Weber State is in third (607). By being in eighth place, UVU will enter Saturday's final round ahead of Northern Colorado (628), Central Michigan (632), Dixie State (639), Montana (647), CSUN (649), Eastern Washington (649), Idaho State (655), and CSU Bakersfield (660).Â

Playing the event as an individual, sophomore
Makenzie McMillen is next for UVU as she's currently tied for 28th with an 11-over-par 155 (79-76). Senior
Bailey Henley is next for Utah Valley, as she's tied for 44th with a 15-over-par 159 (78-81), while sophomore
Anna Lesa is right behind her in a tie for 51st with at 17-over (79-82—161).

Also playing the weekend as individuals, sophomores
Lauren Taylor (81-84—165) and
Macy Robertson Murphy (88-83—171) are currently in 68th and 89th, respectively, while sophomore
Caylyn Ponich rounds out Utah Valley's field of five in 78th place (89-78—167).

Oral Roberts' Kiana Oshiro is the individual leader with an even-par 144 (73-71), while Weber State's Jessica Zelasko is currently one stroke back for second place (70-75—145).Â
