OREM, Utah — It's rivalry week for Utah Valley softball as the Wolverines are set to play at BYU in the UCCU Crosstown Clash before hosting Dixie State in a the Old Hammer Rivalry.

UVU will be in Provo for a Wednesday midweek contest that starts at 6 p.m. and airs on BYUtv.org. The Wolverines (16-17, 7-8) will host the Trailblazers on Thursday and Friday in a three-game WAC series that will air on the WAC Digital Network. The teams open with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. on Thursday with the finale on Friday at noon. The series was moved up one day as inclement weather is expected to visit Orem this weekend.

Utah Valley has won four straight after sweeping California Baptist in a WAC series at home last week. Linnah Rebolledo hit .636 (7-for-11) with a grand slam in the series and was named the WAC Hitter of the Week on Monday.

Madison Carr is batting .429 to lead all WAC hitters, which also ranks 29th nationally, while Rebolledo's .398 average is fourth in the conference. Mikaela Thomson ranks second in the WAC and 15th in the country in RBIs per game (1.15). As a team, Utah Valley ranks third in the conference and 23rd nationally with a .317 average.

LAST TIME OUT
In the series sweep of CBU, the Wolverines got three strong starts from the pitching staff, including Katie Zuniga's first career shutout. Zuniga tossed two complete games and Brooke Carter pitched an 8-inning complete game that UVU won in extra innings after Rylee Thorpe's walk-off home run. Rebolledo's grand slam was her second of the season and the team's fourth. She and Thomson have two each, with three of the four coming in the last two weekends.

UP NEXT
The Wolverines are scheduled to play at Utah next Monday at 5 p.m. and host Utah State on Wedensday at 2 p.m. as the team wraps a stretch of six straight games against in-state opponents. Next weekend, UVU will play a WAC series at Seattle U before an added game the following Monday, May 2, at Washington.
