OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University will play a pair of in-state midweek contests beginning Monday at 5 p.m. MT at the University of Utah0. The Wolverines (18-19) will also host Utah State University on Wednesday at 2 p.m. MT. Monday's game in Salt Lake City will air via Utah's live stream on Pac-12.com with Wednesday's contest live on the WAC Digital Network.

UVU has won six of its last eight games and is coming off of a series win over Dixie State over the weekend in Orem. Madison Carr, who leads the WAC and ranks among the national leaders with a .447 batting average, was 7-for-10 in the series against the Trailblazers. She set a new program record in last week's game at BYU, reaching base for the 28th consecutive game, a streak that now sits at 31 after the weekend series.

Kalena Shepherd had nine RBIs in the Dixie State series, going 5-for-7 with two home runs over the final two games. In the series finale, Shepherd doubled home three runs and hit a two-run home run. In the series opener, Rylee Thorpe capped a three-run seventh inning with a walk-off single to give the Wolverines a 7-6 win.

Brooke Carter tossed a four-hit shutout in game two while the UVU offense matched a season-high with 16 hits. The Wolverines scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and added on in every inning en route to the lopsided win. Following Wednesday's game against Utah State, Utah Valley travels to Seattle U for a pivotal WAC series on Friday and Saturday. The Wolverines will also play at Washington next Monday.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Utah is 22-22 overall and dropped two of three in its most recent series against No. 24 Arizona. Monday will be the first and only meeting between the schools that has UVU head coach Cody Thomson returning to Salt Lake City, where he was a long-time assistant dating back to the 2005 season. Ellessa Bonstrom leads the Utes at the plate, batting .414 with 10 home runs and 38 RBIs.

Utah State is 25-20 overall and has won four of its last six games. The Aggies dropped a road series at UNLV that featured a pair of one-run games. USU won the only prior meeting between the teams earlier this season in Logan, 8-3. In that game, UVU's Mikaela Thomson homered twice. Lexi Orozco is batting a team-high .392 and shares the team lead with 11 home runs with Gabriella Jimenez.
