EUGENE, Oregon — Utah Valley University's
Adam Bunker and
Aaron Johnson both earned honorable mention All-America status on Wednesday at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field. The duo gives the Wolverines six All-Americans in outdoor track & field with two more coming with Thursday's competition.
Bunker who's just a freshman, finished 17th overall — seventh in his heat — and nearly snuck onto the All-America second team with a late push. He needed to finish in the top five in his heat or have one of the next two best times to have advanced to Friday's final.
Johnson, a junior, led off the first flight and finished in 21st overall, with his best jump of the day 7.32m. He is the first Utah Valley All-American in the long jump at the outdoor championships with the quartet of Wolverines competing the first All-Americans since 2016.
Hanna Branch and
Everlyn Kemboi will race on Thursday at 8:08 p.m. PT/9:08 p.m. MT in the 10,000-meter final. The race will air live on ESPNU. The two are poised to become UVU's first-ever female All-Americans in outdoor track & field.
