Box Score SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Valley University dropped a match to the University of Utah in straight sets (23-25,17-25, 24-26). Madelyn Robinson had 13 kills to lead the Utes. Robinson had a game-high 13 kills for Utah (2-1) to lead the Utes with Emily Smith adding 30 assists.
Tori Dorius led UVU (0-3) with seven kills, and
Avery Shewell had a new-career high five kills.
Natalie Palmer had 18 assists, and
Bryton Nixon added 15 digs.

Utah Valley used a 3-0 run to go up 6-4 after a UVU challenge reversed the point. A quick 4-0 scoring run aided by two blocks from Dorius put UVU up 14-9 in the first set. The Utes responded with a run of their own to even the first set at 14-14.
Hailey Cuff had a kill down the line before Nixon added a service ace to tie the set at 19-19. The Wolverines took a 22-21 lead after a reversed touch call and a kill from
Kazna Tanuvasa one of her five in the opening set. The Utes came back to outscore UVU 4-1 to win the first set. Â Dorius had three kills and two blocks in the opening set, with
Hailey Cuff adding three kills.

Utah got out a 3-0 lead before a block assist for
Makayla Broadbent and Cuff to make it a 3-1 match. Palmer added a service ace to make it 3-2. Utah later used an 8-3 run to take a 19-10 lead after three kills from Madelyn Robinson. UVU chipped back into the game with back-to-back points on a kill from
Kalea Kennedy and a service ace from
Chloie Brinton to make it 20-14 Utah. The Utes closed out the set 25-17.

In the third set, Utah got off to a 6-3 lead before
Avery Shewell spiked home her first kill of the match to make it 6-4 Utes. Kennedy had two kills in the middle part of the set to bring UVU back to 12-7. The Wolverines went on a 4-0 run to push the third set to 15-13 Utah after a Shewell kill, and three errors from the Utes. Utah Valley got back within two after back-to-back blocks by
Jules Fink to make it 18-16, Utah. Kennedy got the Wolverines within one at 18-17 after she hit home a kill. UVU tied the third set at 23 following an attack error from Utah and a Dorius kill. The set was tied at 24 before Utah got a kill and block to win the set 26-24.
