OREM, Utah – The Utah Valley women's volleyball team will stay at home for a pair of matches while hosting the Utah Valley Invitational. The Wolverines will host California from the Pac-12 on Sept. 1 at 5:00 p.m. and Northern Arizona from the Big Sky on Sept. 3 at 2:00 p.m.
The Wolverines are coming off the season-opening victory over Cal Poly on Monday night. UVU kill leader
Tori Dorius had 18 kills to tally 38 kills on the year.
Natalie Palmer added 22 assists along with
Abbie Miller's 20 assists.
Jules Fink had seven of the 24 UVU blocks on the night. The Wolverines rallied late to win the fourth set and win the match. They will look to build off the momentum of Monday's victory.
The Wolverines and Bears will meet for the first time. UVU and NAU played in 2021 at the Lumberjack Classic in Flagstaff. UVU won the match 3-0 behind 12 kills from
Kristen Bell and 11 from
Kazna Tanuvasa.
Makayla Broadbent had a career-high seven blocks, while UVU had 14 blocks as a team.
California went 2-1 last weekend at the San Diego State Tournament, beating Army and San Diego State before losing the final game to UC San Diego. Northern Arizona enters the weekend at 1-2 with losses coming to Utah Tech and Michigan before defeating Old Dominion to end the weekend on a high note.
