OREM, Utah – Utah Valley women's volleyball will welcome Sam Houston to Orem on Saturday, Oct. 1, for a 1:00 p.m. contest inside Lockhart Arena. UVU will host the Lori Richards Pink Game and welcome back past UVU Alumni for the match.
 
Utah Valley swept Utah Tech on the road after trailing in the opening set before rallying to beat the Trailblazers. The Wolverines outhit the UTU .414 to .214 in the final set to secure the match. WAC Player and Freshman of the Week, Avery Shewell, had a career-high 13 kills while hitting .524 in the match.
 
UVU defeated Seattle U on Saturday inside the Lockhart Arena with a late surge in hitting percentage. It was the ninth straight victory in the series for Utah Valley. The Wolverines had more kills than Seattle U by a 50-35 margin and more assists at a 47-31 margin.
 
The Wolverines will host Sam Houston (4-12, 1-1), who dropped a five-set match against Abilene Christian and beat Stephen F. Austin in Huntsville. DS/L Hannah Baker was the WAC TicketSmarter Defensive Player of the Week, averaging over 5.00 digs/set. Catherine Kreiger leads Sam Houston with 164 kills on the year. Analise Lucio and Avery Fowler are both averaging over 4.00 assists per set.
 
Utah Valley is hosting the annual Lori Richards Pink Game. Richards led the UVU volleyball program from 1981 to 1998. At the helm of the UVU program, Richards held an impressive .743% winning percentage and an overall 482-167 record. The 1998 NJCAA Coach of the Year was inducted into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Utah Valley Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002. Richards passed away in 2012.

UVU will host Chicago State on Oct. 6 at 6:00 p.m. in a non-conference matchup before heading to Seattle U on Oct. 8 for a 3:00 p.m. matchup in the northwest. Tickets for all home matches are still available at the link above.
