Wolverines to play two in northeast

OREM, Utah – The Utah Valley women's volleyball team will compete in the Harvard/Northeastern Challenge this weekend. UVU will meet the Crimson of Harvard on Sept. 9 with a 5:00 p.m. MT first serve and then play Northeastern University on Sept. 10 with a 2:00 p.m. MT start.
 
Utah Valley won last week's Utah Valley Invitational with victories over California from the Pac-12 and Northern Arizona from the Big Sky. Tori Dorius was named the tournament's MVP after leading the Wolverines on the weekend with 44 kills and a .432 attack percentage. The Wolverines have more kills than their opponents by a 151-105 margin this year and hold a 66-40 lead in block assists. Makayla Broadbent leads the WAC in blocks/per set average with 1.22.
 
Harvard went 0-3 at the Bryant Invitational last weekend losing to host Bryant University 0-3, Montana State 3-1, and Boston College 0-3. Ashley Wang had 26 kills for a 2.60 average, with Nicole Prescott adding 24 kills over the weekend. Ariana White led Harvard with nine blocks in the three matches.
 
The Huskies won two out of three this past weekend at the Duke Invitational. NU beat East Carolina (3-1) and East Tennessee State (3-1) before dropping the final game against Duke (1-3). Erica Staunton leads NU with 86 kills on the year to be in third place in the CAA. Jessica Frannea is second in the CAA with 151 assists and averages 9.44/set.
 
This marks the second time that UVU has played both Harvard and Northeastern. The Wolverines hold a 1-0 record against each team and have not seen either team since the 2006 season.
 
Both matches will be broadcast, the match against Harvard will be on ESPN+, and Northeastern will be available on Flo Volleyball.

Utah Valley will return home on Sept. 15 with a match against in-state foe Weber State. Tickets are available at the link above for the 6:00 p.m. contest.
