OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University will host Abilene Christian for the first time when the teams meet on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. MT in the UCCU Center. The game will air live on ESPN+.
The Wolverines (4-12, 1-4) came up just short in their attempt to knock off WAC-leader Southern Utah on the road on Wednesday night, falling 70-66. Kaylee Byon set a new career high with 19 points, hitting 8-for-12 from the field to go along with four assists. Mae Afoa also set a career high with 13 points while Shay Fano finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.
UVU was without leading scorer and rebounder, Jaeden Brown, for the third straight game on Wednesday. Brown is averaging 14.6 points and 9.3 rebounds on the season and in three conference games is averaging 24.7 points, 15.7 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 3.0 blocks per game.

Utah Valley hits the road for four of its next five games, starting with league favorite and defending champions Stephen F. Austin next Thursday in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Wolverines will also play next Saturday, Jan. 21 at Sam Houston before returning home for a January 26 contest against Seattle U.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Abilene Christian is 8-8 overall and 2-3 in WAC play after falling at Utah Tech, 85-74, on Wednesday night. Maleeah Langstaff finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds and is one of four players averaging in double figures, at 11.7 per game, while leading the team with an average of 6.8 rebounds per game. Madi Miller leads the team at 12.4 points per game.
Saturday marks the first time that ACU will play in Orem. The only prior meeting between the teams came last season, a 69-63 win for the Wildcats in Abilene.
