UTAH VALLEY TAKES SIX-GAME ROAD WIN STREAK TO GRAND CANYON

- Aziz Bandaogo recorded his 10th double-double of the season and seven Utah Valley players scored in double figures to lead the Wolverines in an 84-54 win over Abilene Christian on Wednesday night at the UCCU Center. Tahj Small led UVU with 13 points off the bench. Justin Harmon tallied 12 points and Tim Ceaser scored 11 while Le'Tre Darthard, Trey Woodbury, Blaze Nield, and Bandaogo each had 10.

- With its loss to Seattle U on Saturday night, Utah Valley's win streak was snapped at 11 games. It was tied for the fourth-longest win streak in the nation at the time. The 11-game streak began with an 88-78 win over Long Beach State on Dec. 3 and came to an end in an 85-80 loss to Seattle U on Jan. 14. UVU's 11-game streak was the second longest streak in school history. The 2011-12 team holds the longest streak in team history at 13 games. With the win over ACU on Wednesday night, the Wolverines have now won 12 of its last 13 games.

- Utah Valley's six straight road wins is tied for the longest road win streak in the nation. The Wolverines have not lost a road game since falling at Boise State on Nov. 26. UVU's six-game road win streak includes wins at BYU, Northern Arizona, Oregon, UT Arlington, UTRGV, and California Baptist.

- With its 77-72 win at Oregon on Dec. 20, Utah Valley became one of four WAC teams to pick up a win over a team from a Power 5 Conference. Utah Valley (Oregon) joins Sam Houston (Oklahoma, Utah), California Baptist (Washington), and Tarleton (Boston College) to pick up wins over teams from a Power 5 league.

- Utah Valley is the top shot blocking team in the nation with 133 blocks and a 6.6 blocks per game average. The Wolverines sit ahead of Illinois (6.3 bpg.), Iona (6.2 bpg.), and Washington (6.2 bpg.).

- Aziz Bandaogo ranks in the top-8 nationally in six statistical categories. He ranks fourth in blocks (56), fifth in rebounds (212), sixth in blocks per game (2.80), seventh in double doubles (10), eighth in rebounds per game (10.6), and eighth in defensive rebounds per game (7.85).

- Le'Tre Darthard knocked down his 100th career three-pointer on Jan. 5 at UT Arlington. He now ranks ninth all-time at UVU with 109 career made threes. Darthard ranks fourth all-time at UVU with a 40.4 percent clip from long range. He also ranks fifth all-time at UVU with an 83.9 percent career mark from the free throw line.

ABOUT GRAND CANYON
Grand Canyon enters Saturday's game with 13-6 overall record and a 4-2 record in WAC play. GCU holds a 10-1 record at home this season with its only blemish a 69-65 setback to Loyola Marymount on Dec. 7. The team is a perfect 3-0 at home in WAC play this season. GCU's two WAC losses came on the road at Stephen F. Austin and California Baptist. The Lopes got past Utah Tech on Wednesday night, 89-85, thanks to sophomore guard Ray Harrison's career-high 38 points, which included a career-best seven three-point field goals. Redshirt junior Gabe McGlothan scored 15 points and junior guard Josh Baker added 14 in the win over the Trailblazers. Harrison leads the team in scoring at 16.5 points per game. McGlothan leads the team on the boards, pulling down 8.5 rebounds a game. He is also averaging double figures at 11.3 points a contest. Grand Canyon holds one of the top field goal percentage defenses in the country, limiting teams to a 39 percent clip.Â
SERIES HISTORY VS. THE LOPES
Utah Valley and Grand Canyon will meet for the 22nd time on the basketball hardwood on Saturday night. GCU holds an all-time 13-8 advantage in the series and has won three straight over the Wolverines, including a two-game series sweep in last season's WAC series. UVU's last win in the series was a 59-55 win in Phoenix on March 5, 2021--a game that clinched a share of the 2021 WAC regular season title with GCU. UVU holds an all-time 3-7 record against the Lopes in Phoenix.Â

As of Jan. 19, Utah Valley now leads the nation in both total blocks and blocks per game. The Wolverines lead the country with 133 blocks and lead the nation in blocks per game at 6.6. Illinois is second in the country at 6.3 blocks per game. Iona and Washington are tied for third at 6.2.

Utah Valley has not dropped a road game since dropping an 87-69 decision at Boise State on Nov. 26. Since the setback to BSU, Utah Valley has won six straight on the road, including wins at BYU, Northern Arizona, Oregon, UT Arlington, UTRGV, and California Baptist.
