Utah Valley set to take on Grand Canyon in WAC Tournament Semifinal on Wednesday

UVU TAKES TOP SEED INTO WAC TOURNAMENT, FACES #4 GRAND CANYON IN SEMIFINALS
Utah Valley has earned the No. 1 seed and a bye into Wednesday's WAC Tournament semifinal match against fourth-seeded Grand Canyon at CBU Soccer Stadium in Riverside, California. The game will kickoff at 5 p.m. (MT) and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The Wolverines wrapped up regular season play last week with a 3-0 shutout win over in-state foe Southern Utah to claim the WAC regular season title. Sydney Bushman scored the game winner with Heather Stainbrook and Taylor Nelson also finding the back of the net scored to secure the victory. CJ Graham picked up the win in the box while picking up the combined shutout with Leah Wolf.

Faith Webber leads the Wolverines in scoring with 16 goals, breaking her own UVU single season record of 14 goals scored last season. Webber also has four assists and leads UVU with 36 points. The junior forward also leads Utah Valley in shots (74), shots on goal (43), and game-winning goals (4). Ruby Hladek leads the team with nine assists. CJ Graham leads UVU in the box with an 8-0-4 record. Graham holds an impressive 0.67 goals against average with two solo shutouts and four combined clean sheets. 

UTAH VALLEY WINS WAC REGULAR SEASON TITLE
Utah Valley shutout in-state league foe Southern Utah 3-0 on Oct. 23 in the team's regular season finale at Clyde Field to claim its second straight outright Western Athletic Conference championship.

Utah Valley finishes regular season play with a 10-3-5 overall record and a near perfect 7-0-2 mark in WAC play. The Wolverines finish atop the WAC standings with 23 points. UVU also earns the top seed and a first-round bye at the WAC Tournament.

The Wolverines have won a WAC regular season title in back-to-back seasons. It's also the third WAC regular season championship over the past four seasons for the Wolverines. UVU has won WAC regular season titles in 2020, 2022, and 2023.  

UTAH VALLEY RECEIVING VOTES IN UNITED SOCCER COACHES TOP-25 POLL
Utah Valley is once again receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 national poll released on Oct. 24.  

It marks the third time in program history that the Wolverines have received votes in the top 25. UVU received votes in the top 25 poll for the first time in UVU history last season and again this year on Oct. 10. 

The Wolverines received two points in the poll and is one of only six teams among others receiving votes. 

Utah Valley has played three teams that are currently ranked in the top 25 and holds a 1-2-0 record in those three matches. UVU dropped matches to Clemson (No. 7) and BYU (No. 8) before picking up a 3-2 win over USC (No. 23) on the road.

UTAH VALLEY CUTS DOWN THE NET
After claiming its second WAC regular season title last week with its win over Southern Utah on Oct. 23, Utah Valley continued its tradition by cutting down the net on the south goal. It is the third time that the Wolverines have cut down the nets at Clyde Field.

Utah Valley's WAC Tournament semifinal match against Grand Canyon on Wednesday will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Braiden Bell and Mary Kay Mauro will be calling the action on the broadcast.

ABOUT GRAND CANYON
Grand Canyon heads into Wednesday night's WAC Tournament semifinal match against Utah Valley with a 12-4-4 overall record. The team picked up a 3-0 win over No. 5 Utah Tech in the WAC Tourney first round to advance to Wednesday's semifinal matchup against the Wolverines. GCU's Gianna Gourley recorded a brace with a pair of goals in the win. Gourley leads the team in scoring with 20 goals, 45 points, 103 shots, and 53 shots on goal. Beka Valdez and Lindsey Prokop each have six goals apiece. 11 GCU players have scored a goal this season. Leah Pirro leads the team with 12 assists. DeAira Jackson leads the team in the box with 57 saves and a 0.85 goals against average. 

STREAKING!!
With its 3-0 shutout win over Southern Utah on Oct. 23, Utah Valley extended its unbeaten streak to 12 games. The Wolverines have not dropped a game since dropping a 6-1 decision to No. 7 BYU on Sept. 2. It has been nearly 60 days without a loss for the Wolverines.

SERIES HISTORY VS. GRAND CANYON
Utah Valley and Grand Canyon will meet up on the pitch for the 22nd time on Wednesday night. The game will be a rematch of last season's WAC Tournament semifinal match, which UVU won in double overtime, 2-1, in Seattle. UVU holds an all-time 13-6-2 record against the Lopes. The Wolverines hold a three-match win streak over the Lopes. Utah Valley holds a 3-1 advantage against Grand Canyon at the WAC Tournament. 

UVU AT THE WAC TOURNAMENT
The Wolverines hold an all-time 13-5-2 (.700) record at the WAC Tournament since joining the league in 2013. Utah Valley went 1-1 at last year's WAC Tournament, picking up a 1-0 win over Grand Canyon in the semifinals before falling 1-0 to New Mexico State in the championship. UVU will play a tournament semifinal match for the 10th time in team history. The Wolverines hold a 6-3-0 record in WAC Tournament semifinal matches. Wednesday's match against GCU will mark the fifth time that UVU has played GCU in the tournament. UVU defeated GCU 1-0 in the semifinals of the 2017 tournament in Phoenix. UVU then picked up a 2-1 win over GCU in the first round of the 2018 tournament in Orem. GCU defeated UVU 3-0 in the 2021 championship match in Texas. UVU then defeated the Lopes 3-2 in double overtime at the tournament last season.

100 CAPS FOR STAINBROOK AND SHEPHERD GREMILLION
Utah Valley seniors Heather Stainbrook and Jenna Shepherd Gremillion each played in their 100th games for Utah Valley on Oct. 19 against Utah Tech. The pair now have 101 career caps for the Wolverines. 

WEBBER RANKS FOURTH IN THE NATION IN SCORING
Utah Valley junior forward Faith Webber ranks fourth nationally in total goals with 16. She also ranks fourth in the country in goals per game (0.89), fifth in total points (36), fifth in points per game (2.00), and fifth in shots on goal per game (2.39).

UTAH VALLEY RANKS FIFTH IN THE NATION IN GOALS SCORED
Utah Valley ranks fifth nationally in total goals (53) and fifth in the country in total points (158). The team also ranks sixth in scoring offense (2.94), seventh in points per game (8.78), eighth in total assists (52), and eighth in assists per game (2.89).

WEBBER BREAKS UVU SINGLE SEASON GOALS RECORD, AGAIN!
Faith Webber has broken the Utah Valley single season goals record of 14 with 16 goals this season. Webber has broken her own UVU single season goals record of 14 which she set last season. Webber now has 16 goals this season with time on the pitch still remaining. Webber broke the record with two goals against Utah Tech on Oct. 19 to give her 16 on the season. 

UVU RANKS NO. 68 IN LATEST NCAA RPI
Utah Valley is ranked No. 68 in the latest NCAA RPI. The Wolverines hold the best RPI in the Western Athletic Conference. Grand Canyon is second at 98, followed by California Baptist (125), Utah Tech (146), Seattle U (186), Abilene Christian (249), Southern Utah (294), Tarleton State (300), Stephen F. Austin (302), and UTRGV (304).
