Tanner Toolson recorded a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead Utah Valley to a 67-65 win over Southern Miss on Sunday in the first game of the Jacksonville Classic at Flagler Gymnasium in St. Augustine, Florida.

The Wolverines advance to Monday's Jacksonville Classic championship game against Cornell, which defeated Cal State Fullerton, 88-70, on the other side of the bracket.

Tied 64-64 with just 51 seconds to play,
Jaden McClanahan knocked down three-point shot from the corner to give the Wolverines a 67-64 lead. Southern Miss then went 1 of 2 from the free throw line and couldn't get a shot off at the buzzer as Utah Valley defeated the Golden Eagles, 67-65.Â

Utah Valley improves its record to 3-1 overall on the season, while Southern Miss falls to 2-2.Â

Toolson scored his 22 points on 8 of 16 shooting, including four three-point field goals. He also hit 2 of 3 shots from the free throw line. The redshirt freshman also pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds with three steals, one assist, and a block.Â

The game produced five ties and seven lead changes.Â

McClanahan was also in double figures with 12 points, connecting on 3 of 8 shots from the floor, including 2 of 5 shots from long range. He went a perfect 4 of 4 from the charity stripe. McClanahan pulled down four rebounds and dished out three assists.Â

Drake Allen neared a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds. He also had three steals and a block.
Caleb Stone-Carrawell scored nine points with four rebounds, while
Trevin Dorius pulled down nine rebounds with seven points and a block.

Utah Valley shot 47.2 percent (25-53) from the field with a 36.4 percent (8-22) clip from beyond the arc. UVU held Southern Miss to 40.7 percent (22-54) shooting, including a 50 percent (6-12) mark from long range.Â

Utah Valley outrebounded Southern Miss 39-29 on the day and forced the Golden Eagles into 13 turnovers.Â
