Utah Valley to host Western Colorado on Friday night at UCCU Center

UTAH VALLEY RETURNS TO UCCU CENTER TO HOST WESTERN COLORADO ON FRIDAY NIGHT
After a four-game road swing, Utah Valley returns to Orem to take on Division II foe Western Colorado on Friday night at the UCCU Center. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

Utah Valley went 1-1 at the Jacksonville Classic in St. Augustine, Florida last week. The Wolverines defeated Southern Miss, 67-64, before falling to Cornell in the championship game, 74-61. UVU also dropped a 62-45 decision at Charlotte to open the eight-day road trip to North Carolina and Florida.

Tanner Toolson recorded a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead Utah Valley to a 67-65 win over Southern Miss. Drake Allen scored a game-high 16 points and Caleb Stone-Carrawell added 15 to lead Utah Valley in a 74-61 loss to Cornell.

BROADCAST INFORMATION
Friday's game against Western Colorado will be broadcast live on ESPN+, which is available on the ESPN app or on ESPNplus.com. Brandon Crow will be calling the action on the streaming service.  The game will also be broadcast over the air waves in Utah County with Jim McCulloch on the call. The radio broadcast will be aired live on ESPN 960 AM radio with a live stream available at ESPN960sports.com. Brice Larson will host the pregame/halftime/postgame show  for the game on ESPN 960 AM. 

ABOUT WESTERN COLORADO
Western Colorado enters Friday night's game against Utah Valley with a 2-3 overall record. The Mountaineers have lost three of their last four games after opening the season with a 59-57 win over Texas at Tyler. The team dropped a close 76-75 decision on the road at Nebraska Kearney on Tuesday. Senior guard Avery Rembao led the Mountaineers with 19 points in the loss at Nebraska Kearney. Four of Western Colorado's five games have been decided by three points or less. Rembao leads the team in scoring at 11.6 points per game. Freshman guard Xavier Harris and junior guard Kade Juelfs also averaged double figures at 10.4 and 10.2 points per game, respectively. Sophomore forward Jamel Hollins leads the team on the boards, pulling down 6.8 rebounds a game. As a team, Western Colorado is averaging 62.60 points a game, while allowing opponents a 67.4 points per game average. 

SERIES HISTORY VS. WESTERN COLORADO
Utah Valley and Western Colorado will meet up on the basketball hardwood for the third time on Friday night. The Wolverines hold an all-time 2-0 advantage in the series. The two teams last met a year ago on Nov. 9, 2022 with UVU taking a 91-64 victory.

UTAH VALLEY FINISHES SECOND AT JACKSONVILLE CLASSIC
Utah Valley went 1-1 at the Jacksonville Classic at Flagler Gymnasium in St. Augustine, Florida. The Wolverines dropped a 74-61 decision to Cornell in the Bay Bracket championship game. UVU advanced to the championship after picking up a 67-65 win over Southern Miss. The Wolverines were one of the eight teams that participated in the Jacksonville Classic, Nov. 19 and 20. The Wolverines competed in the Bay Bracket along with Southern Miss, Cornell, and Cal State Fullerton. The Coast Bracket featured Charlotte, UCF, South Dakota State, and George Mason.

THREE-POINT STREAKING

Utah Valley has now hit a three-point field goal in 258 straight games. The last time UVU played in a game without hitting a shot from beyond the arc was on Feb. 7, 2015 at Seattle U.

UCCU CENTER MAGIC
Utah Valley holds an impressive 70-16 (81.3 percent) record at home since a win over Seattle U on March 4, 2017. The Wolverines hold an all-time 221-62 (78 percent) record as the team heads into its 21st season at the UCCU Center. The Wolverines are averaging 10.9 wins a season on their home hardwood. UVU finished 14-1 at home last season. The team has won 18 of its last 19 games at home and 26 of its last 29 at the UCCU Center. Utah Valley's 14 wins at home during the 2022-23 season tied the program record for home wins in a season with the 2006-07, 2011-12, and 2018-19 seasons.
