Thomson announces 2024 recruiting class

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley head softball coach Cody Thomson has announced his 2024 recruiting class and the signing of future Wolverines Brooklyn Ricci (Salt Lake City, Utah), Kina Watts (Eagle, Idaho), Lily Riley (Oregon City, Oregon), and Tatum Hall (Spanish Fork, Utah).

"We're very excited to welcome in the 2024 recruiting class," said Thomson. "These are some very talented girls, and I can't wait to get to work with them starting next year."

Ricci is a 5-foot-5 catcher and corner infielder who currently preps at Hillcrest HS in Midvale. Ricci hit .682 as a junior last season with a .720 OBP, and has compiled 20 home runs over her first three seasons of high school ball. Ricci was named second team All-State as a junior, and has also been named her team's offensive and defensive player of the year. Ricci plays her club ball for the Utah Freakz, with whom she took 2nd place at the PGF National Championships.

Watts attends Owyhee HS in Eagle, Idaho, and is a 5-foot-3 utility player. Watts was named All-State in the 5A division last year after helping lead the Storm to a state title. Watts hit .413 with 11 home runs, 11 doubles, 37 RBIs, and a 1.422 OPS. As a sophomore, Watts helped lead OHS to a runner-up finish in the Idaho state tournament. Watts currently plays her club softball for Crossfire Fastpitch.

Riley is a 5-foot-7 pitcher and first baseman who currently preps at Oregon City HS. Riley is coming off of a stellar 2023 season where she posted a 0.93 ERA and racked up 232 strikeouts in just 142.1 innings pitched. Riley led the Pioneers to a runner-up finish in the Oregon state tournament, and threw the first no-hitter in the championship game in state history. In 2023, Riley was named first team All-State as a pitcher, as well as the Three Rivers League Pitcher of the Year. Riley currently plays her club softball for the Washington Ladyhawks.

Hall attends Spanish Fork HS and is a 5-foot-5 utility player for the Dons. Hall is the younger sister of incoming freshman Peyton Hall, who signed with the Wolverines last year. Hall has helped lead SFHS to three-straight state titles, with an 88-7 overall record in those three seasons. As a junior, Hall led her team in batting average at .483 while finishing second in OBP at .580 and home runs with 12. Hall was named to the UHSAA 5A first team as a junior and earned second team honors as a sophomore.
