LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Utah Valley opens its 10th WAC Tournament as the No. 12 seed and will face No. 5 Utah Tech on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. PT/3 p.m. MT at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. The winner will face 4th-seeded California Baptist on Wednesday at 2 p.m. PT in the Orleans Arena.
The Wolverines (6-23) are 4-9 all-time in the WAC Tournament and are coming off of a semifinal appearance last season, where they lost to eventual champion Stephen F. Austin.
Utah Valley and Utah Tech will meet for the second straight time after the two wrapped up the regular season last Thursday in Orem. The Trailblazers won that contest, 71-59. UVU had four players score in double figures in the game, led by 14 points and 10 rebounds from Shay Fano.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Utah Tech (18-11) is the top 3-point shooting team in the WAC in terms of makes, attempts and percentage. The Trailblazers rank third in the country in 3-point makes, with 288 on the season. Utah Tech swept the season series, winning by 10 in St. George before Thursday's win in Orem.
