Wolverines to face in-state rivals Utah State and BYU in midweek matchups

Utah Valley returns home to the Beehive State for nine of its last 13 games, including the final five games at home this week. First up, the Wolverines will travel to Logan on Tuesday to face Utah State before returning home to host crosstown rival BYU Wednesday.

First pitch of Tuesday's game in Logan is scheduled for 4 p.m. MDT and will be streamed on the Mountain West Network. Wednesday's game versus BYU is slated for 6 p.m. MDT and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

These will be the second and final scheduled meetings with the Aggies and Cougars this year. The Wolverines dropped a 3-0 decision back on March 14 to USU, and fell 9-0 to BYU on April 11.

LAST TIME OUT

Utah Valley took the final game of last weekend's WAC series against California Baptist by a score of 4-1 after dropping the first two games of the series, 1-0 and 5-1. Katie Zuniga had a pair of dominant outings, allowing just 1 ER over 13 innings pitched. Zuniga went 2-1 on the week after picking up the win on Wednesday over Idaho State and on Saturday against CBU.

Mya Higareda was forced into action after Kalena Shepherd was struck by a foul ball while in the on-deck circle. Higareda picked up her first collegiate hit in Friday's series opener, then went 3-for-4 with a double and a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning of Saturday's series finale. Higareda also caught all 21 innings in the series. Libbie Hawker and Rylee Thorpe each went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI on Saturday. Thorpe's two-out double set the table for Libbie Hawker's game-tying triple in the fifth.

UP NEXT

Utah Valley will host Southern Utah for the final home WAC series of the season. Friday's doubleheader is slated to begin at 5 p.m. MDT and Saturday's series finale is scheduled for 12 p.m. MDT. Saturday's game will also be Senior Day, as the Wolverines will honor graduating seniors Brooke Saili, Rylee Thorpe, Kalena Shepherd, Joslyn Thieme, Jaeden Barajas, and Katie Zuniga. The Senior Day ceremony will take place following the conclusion of Saturday's game.
