OREM—The Utah Valley University men's basketball team is set to embark on its first international trip since 2013 as the team will travel to Italy, Aug. 2-11, visiting the cities of Milan, Florence, and Rome. 
 
"We are excited for the opportunity to take our team to such a historic and beautiful place," said Utah Valley head coach Todd Phillips. "The time we get to spend on the court and play actual games in addition to the extra practice time is incredibly valuable for us."
 
The trip will be just the second international trip in Utah Valley men's basketball history. The only other international journey was in 2013 when the team visited China. UVU would then go on to win the 2013-14 WAC regular season title in its inaugural WAC season.
 
The Wolverines will play a game in each city it visits on the trip for a total of three games. UVU will open play against Milano 3 in Milan on Friday, Aug. 4. The Wolverines will then play the Lombarida Stars on Monday, Aug. 7 in Florence, and the Serbian Reds on Thursday, Aug. 10 in Rome.  Each game will tip-off at 12:30 p.m. MT. 
 
The Wolverines will have two days in Milan where the team will spend time in Lake Como and visit Bellagio. The squad will then visit the city of Florence for three days where players will have the opportunity to tour the city. UVU will then visit Rome for three days where the squad will tour the Vatican and Roman Colosseum.
 
Utah Valley head coach Todd Phillips enters his first season at the helm of the Wolverine program. He returns two players that saw significant time on the floor during the 2022-23 season, including Ethan Potter (1.8 ppg., 2.5 rpg.) and Jaden McClanahan (2.2 ppg., 0.9 apg.). Phillips welcomes nine newcomers to the team, including seven transfers and two freshmen.
