Utah Valley's Trey Woodbury will begin pro career in Germany

OREM—Former Utah Valley University men's basketball standout Trey Woodbury has signed a professional contract with nine-time German Champions and five-time German Cup winner Brose Bamberg.

Brose Bamberg plays in the Bundesliga (BBL), which is the highest-level league of professional basketball in Germany. Former Wolverine Kenneth Ogbe played for Bamberg from 2020-22.

"The last piece of the puzzle has been found," said Brose Bamberg head coach Oren Amiel. "We were looking for a point guard who can also play the other guard position. Trey meets that requirement. We think Trey will be a good combination with Malik (Johnson). Both have different play styles and abilities and complement each other perfectly."

Woodbury led Utah Valley to a pair of WAC regular season championships and a run to the semifinals of the NIT during his UVU career. He averaged 13.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists last season, leading Utah Valley to a school-record 28 wins and a trip to the semifinals of the NIT in his hometown, Las Vegas. He became just the third UVU player to record a triple-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in UVU's outright WAC-clinching win over Stephen F. Austin this past season. Woodbury became just the ninth Utah Valley player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark and now ranks eighth on UVU's all-time career scoring list with 1,085 points. In his four seasons with the Wolverines, Woodbury averaged 11.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. He played 91 career games for Utah Valley.

Bamberg plays at Brose Arena in Bamberg, Bayern, Germany. Woodbury will open the season with Bamberg on Sept. 28 against RASTA Vechta.
