OREM, Utah – Utah Valley women's volleyball will travel up I-15 for a match at Weber State on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 6:00 p.m. MT at the Swenson Gym. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats on UVUstats.com.
Utah Valley went 2-0 this past weekend at the Bengal Invitational at Idaho State. The Wolverines dropped the opening set in both matches before coming from behind to win the next three against host Idaho State and Gonzaga.
Avery Shewell was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after starting the tournament with five service aces against Idaho State and adding 18 of her 27 kills in the tournament in a win against Gonzaga.
Abbie Medeiros earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after averaging over six assists a set. She was close to a season-high with 27 assists against Idaho State.
Vittoria Price was the third Wolverine named to the team after having 15 kills and hitting .379 in the tournament.
The Wolverines will seek revenge against the Wildcats after last year's five-set loss inside Lockhart Arena.
Tori Ellis had 12 kills, and
Kalea Kennedy had 10 to lead the offensive attack in the match. WSU rallied after being down 2-0 and won the final three sets to clinch the match. Ashley Gneiting had 16 kills, with 14 coming from Makayla Sorensen.
ABOUT WEBER STATE
The Wildcats are currently 6-3 on the season and have won four straight after going 3-0 last weekend at the Corpus Christi tournament. Weber State has won the previous five meetings, with three out of the five going to five sets. Dani Richins leads the attack with 116 kills on the year, but the strength coming at the net is with blocks. They are one of the top blocking teams in the Big Sky. Saane Katoa is No. 23 in the country in blocks at 34 and No. 6 in blocks per set. Kate Standifird is No. 13 nationally in assists and enters, averaging over ten assists a set.

Like their counterparts, the Wolverines are currently second in the WAC in total blocks and are No. 7 in the country in total blocks with 74.
Caleigh Vagana is No. 32 with 32, and
Kendra Nock has 23 and is No. 4 in the WAC.

Utah Valley will welcome back Alumni for this weekend's match against No. 8 BYU. They will have an alumni dinner in the South Presidential Suite starting at 4:15 p.m. MT. UVU head coach
Sam Atoa will speak at 5:15 before having an Alumni and Children skills clinic on Saturday, Sept. 16, starting at 9:00 a.m. MT.
