Utah Valley returns to the UCCU Center this week to begin a three-game WAC homestand beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. MT against UT Arlington. The Wolverines will also host UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday at 2 p.m. MT. Both games can be seen live on ESPN+.Â
UVU (5-8, 0-4) dropped two road games last week as the team returned to conference play. As a team, the Wolverines lead the WAC in steals per game, turnovers forced, turnover margin, and bench points. The 29.8 bench points per game ranks 14th nationally while the 11.7 steals is 18th in the country.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley University couldn't overcome a cold night from the field in a 71-58 loss at Southern Utah University on Saturday at the America First Events Center. Jenna Dick hit five 3-pointers and led the Wolverines with a season-high 15 points while Amanda Barcello added eight points and Tahlia White chipped in seven. UVU found itself in a big hole after hitting just 27.5% through three quarters. The Wolverines finished the contest 21-for-59 overall (35.6%) while the T-Birds hit 49.1% (27-for-55) from the field.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
UT Arlington is the hottest team in the WAC, having won five straight games including two lopsided wins at home last week in conference play. Avery Brittingham was named one of the USBWA National Players of the Week on Monday after a triple-double in a win over Stephen F. Austin. Taliyah Clark leads the team with an average of 13.4 points per game while Brittingham is scoring 12.5 points and grabbing a WAC-leading 8.6 rebounds per game. The Wolverines have won the only prior meeting between the teams, winning 64-53 last season in Orem behind a big fourth quarter.

Next week, Utah Valley will host Grand Canyon on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. in the UCCU Center before heading to St. George for the Old Hammer Rivalry, where they'll face Utah Tech on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.
