UTAH VALLEY HOSTS CALIFORNIA BAPTIST, GRAND CANYON TO WRAP UP HOME SLATE
Utah Valley continues Western Athletic Conference play with two home matches at Clyde Field to wrap up its home schedule. The Wolverines will host California Baptist on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m., followed by a match against Grand Canyon on Monday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m.
Thursday night's game will also serve as Senior Night, with departing seniors Haley Funn, Faith Webber, Quincy Bonds, Jaylyn Wright, Manthy Brady, CJ Graham, and Abby Gemza being honored before kickoff. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with Senior Night festivities beginning at 5:45 p.m.
The Wolverines enter the week with a 10-4-1 overall record and a perfect 4-0-0 mark in WAC play after a 4-1 win over Abilene Christian on Saturday. UVU has won seven consecutive matches and eight of its last nine, as the team looks to remain unbeaten in conference play and extend its winning streak at home to three games.
Faith Webber leads Utah Valley with 11 goals, two assists, and 24 points. She ranks second in the country in shots per game (6.07) and third in shots on goal per game (2.93). Webber is ninth in the country in total goals (11) and 14th in total points (24). Ruby Hladek and Nixan Jackson each have four goals, while Hladek leads the team in assists with eight. Sadie Beardall has scored three goals, and a total of 14 different players have found the back of the net for UVU this season.
Utah Valley ranks second nationally in total assists (49), fourth in total points (127), and sixth in goals scored (39).
CJ Graham leads the Wolverines in goal with an 8-3-1 record. She has one solo shutout and two combined clean sheets, totaling 42 saves this season. Graham's consistent play has helped UVU maintain its unbeaten start in WAC play.

California Baptist enters the week with a 7-4-2 overall record and a 3-1-0 mark in WAC play. Junior goalkeeper Mikayla O'Brien earned WAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors after recording five saves in a 1-0 win over Utah Tech. O'Brien has three shutouts this season, a 0.43 goals-against average, and leads the WAC in save percentage (.917). Offensively, Taylor Held scored the game-winning goal against Utah Tech, while Morgan Witz leads the team with eight points and six assists, tying her for the WAC lead in assists. Lauryn White leads the Lancers with three goals, while Kaylee Hauck, Jayden Ramirez, and Ava Westlund each have two goals. CBU has allowed nine goals across 13 matches this season. The Lancers face Utah Valley on Thursday and Seattle U on Sunday.

Utah Valley and California Baptist will meet up on the pitch for 10th in the two team's histories. Utah Valley holds an all-time 4-3-2 advantage in the series. Utah Valley has a three-game unbeaten streak against the Lancers, including a pair of wins in Orem in 2021 and 2022. UVU tied CBU 1-1 last season in California. UVU holds an all-time 4-1-1 record against CBU in games played at home.

Grand Canyon enters the week with a 10-4-1 overall record and a 4-0-0 mark in WAC play. The Lopes are on a four-match win streak, including a 3-1 victory at Southern Utah on Oct. 11. Senior midfielder Bella Piete, who leads the team with eight points, scored a goal and added an assist in the match. AJ Loera and Payton Fisher also scored for GCU, with Fisher recording her first goal of the season. In goal, senior goalkeeper DeAira Jackson has a 0.74 goals-against average, 50 saves, and six shutouts this season. GCU has scored 22 goals while allowing 11. They will take on Seattle U after Monday's match against Utah Valley.
SERIES HISTORY VS. THE LOPES
Utah Valley and Grand Canyon will meet on the pitch for the 23rd time on Monday. It will be the ninth time that the two teams have played in Orem. Utah Valley holds an all-time 13-7-2 record against GCU. The Wolverines split a pair of matches against GCU last season, taking a 4-0 shutout win in Phoenix during the regular season before falling, 2-1, in the WAC Tournament semifinals in Riverside, California. UVU holds an all-time 6-1-1 record against GCU in games played in Orem. The two teams will be playing in Orem for the first time since playing to a 0-0 draw on Sept. 23, 2021.Â

Utah Valley holds an impressive 106-45-15 (.688) all-time record at Clyde Field. The team has lost just four matches over the past five seasons on the home pitch. UVU went 6-1-1 in 2022, 8-1-1 in 2021, 4-1-2 in 2020, 8-1-1 in 2019, 3-4-1 at home in 2018, 5-1-0 in 2017, 5-2-1 during the 2016 season, and were unbeaten at home during the 2015 season with a 9-0-1 mark. UVU is 2-2-0 at home this season and ranks 17th nationally in attendance, averaging 1,221 fans per game.
