Webber's Brace Secures Utah Valley's Third Straight WAC Championship

OREM— Faith Webber recorded a brace, including the game-winner, to lead Utah Valley to a 3-0 shutout win over league rival Grand Canyon on Monday night at Clyde Field, securing the team's third straight Western Athletic Conference regular season championship.

The Wolverines have now claimed the WAC regular season title in back-to-back-to-back seasons. It's also its fourth WAC regular season championship in the past five years, having won titles in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

With the win, Utah Valley clinches the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament and at least a share of the WAC title, with one game remaining in regular season play on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Seattle U.

UVU improves to 12-4-1 overall and remains unbeaten in WAC play with a 6-0-0 record, extending its winning streak to nine games. Grand Canyon falls to 11-5-1 overall and 5-1-0 in conference action.

"It's a different group this year, and after graduating a lot of talent last season, we needed players to step up—and they've done that," said Utah Valley head coach Chris Lemay. "Tonight was just a delicious performance by our soccer family. To not concede a goal and earn the shutout was special. Faith scoring a hat trick on Thursday and then following it up with two tonight, and Ashley Garcia scoring in both matches, shows that we have players stepping up in the most critical moments. Now it's about carrying that momentum into the WAC tournament. I don't think the team is satisfied yet. We've got a bit of a monkey on our back when it comes to the WAC tournament, as we haven't won it since 2020, but we've been in a couple of finals. We need to keep pushing."

Manthy Brady weaved past a pair of GCU defenders and sent a cross from the left side of the box, where Faith Webber connected, firing the ball into the far post from the right side of the six-yard box to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute.

In the 79th minute, Greta Davis sent a pass from the left side of the box to Ashley Garcia, who was positioned inside the six-yard box. Garcia punched the ball into the back of the net to give UVU a 2-0 advantage.

Ruby Hladek then slotted a pass to Webber in the box in the 82nd minute. Webber then fired a left-footed shot past the GCU keeper to extend Utah Valley's lead to 3-0.

The two goals give Webber 16 on the season, tying the UVU single-season goals record she set last year. She now has 105 career points, tying the all-time UVU points record held by former Wolverine and current Washington Spirit player Heather Stainbrook.

"It doesn't get old winning three years in a row, but this one feels different because I love this group of girls," said Webber. "I really feel like we deserved it this year—we put in the work, and it paid off. We're going to celebrate, but not for too long, because we've come up short in the WAC tournament the last two years. That's our next goal, and we're focused on keeping this momentum going."

Utah Valley outshot Grand Canyon 17-8 on the night, with a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal. Webber led UVU with five shots, four of which were on target. Nixan Jackson added four shots.

CJ Graham picked up the shutout win in goal, making three saves.

The Wolverines will now have five days to prep for its regular season finale at Seattle U on Oct. 26. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (MT). The  match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
