OREM, Utah — Gilles Aurelien scored his first Utah Valley goal in the 86th minute, but it proved to be too little, too late as Seattle U's River Stewart netted two second half goals to lift the Redhawks past the Wolverines, 2-1 in the WAC opener. 

After going scoreless for the first 45 minutes, Seattle U broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, then doubled the lead just under 10 minutes later in the 57th. 

Utah Valley had a prime scoring opportunity in the fifth minute, but Omar Yehya saw his two quick shots get blocked and go wide. Yehya had another shot saved in the 15th minute, but his effort was saved.

Following the two Redhawk goals, the Wolverines dominated possession the remainder of the night, but couldn't find the breakthrough goal until the 85th minute. David Noguera came inches away from his first collegiate goal in the 79th minute, but his strike from the top of the penalty area went inches over the crossbar. 

Utah Valley cut the lead in half six minutes later after Alex Fritcher sent a ball over the top toward the right corner for Noah Pogue, who sent a cross to a streaking Aurelien, who headed it home. The goal would be the Wolverines' last shot attempt of the game.

Utah Valley will have a quick turnaround, with just one day off until its next game. The Wolverines will host San José State on Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. MT. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+, with live stats available at UVUStats.com.
