Utah Valley opens the 24-25 season in the Bay Area

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley wrestling opens the 2024-2025 season with duals on Friday, Nov. 1, against No. 23 CSU Bakersfield and No. 12 Stanford. They will wrestle the Roadrunners at 4:00 p.m. MT before wrapping up the day with the Cardinal at 6:00 p.m. MT on the ACC Network + on ESPN+. The week closes with the Menlo Invite on Saturday, Nov. 2, on FloWrestling.
 
The Wolverines have two ranked in the preseason polls, with Terrell Barraclough coming in the highest ranked at No. 7 by InterMat, with Flo coming in at 14. He is the fourth-highest ranked in the Big 12 behind West Virginia's Peyton Hall, Cameron Amine (Oklahoma State), and MJ Gaitan from Iowa State.
 
Redshirt junior Haiden Drury is ranked No. 32 by InterMat, while the Big 12 currently has nine ranked in the polls. Drury and UVU will face off against four in the polls, including No. 1 Andrew Alirez (Northern Colorado), Josh Edmond, No. 10 (Missouri), Tagen Jamison (Oklahoma State), No. 11, and Jordan Titus (West Virginia), who is ranked No. 12 by InterMat.
 
BROADCAST PLANS
The dual with CSUB will be streamed on Youtube.com/GoUVU, while the matchup with Stanford will air on ACC Network+ on ESPN+. Saturday's Menlo Invite will be on FloWrestling. TrackWrestling will have live scoring for all three events, including updated brackets for Saturday.
 
ABOUT CSU BAKERSFIELD
The Roadrunners brought in two new starters to the 2024-2025 lineup, including No. 1 at 197 AJ Ferrari, a transfer from Oklahoma State, where he won the NCAA title during the 2020-2021 season. 174-pounder Gerrit Nijenhuis transferred in from Oklahoma and is a three-time NCAA qualifier, including a 16-9 season for the Sooners last year.
 
ABOUT THE CARDINAL
Stanford has six of their ten projected starters ranked and are led by 165 No. 3 Hunter Garvin, which could be the match of the night with a potential matchup with No. 7 Barraclough.  No. 10 Nico Provo is a returning NCAA qualifier at 125 and keep a close eye on No. 12 Jaden Abas (149), No. 17 Nick Stemmet (197), and No. 18 Lorenzo Norman (174).
