CORVALLIS, Oregon — Dane Huddleston shot a final-round 1-over-par 72 on Tuesday at Trysting Tree Golf Club to finish third at the Oregon State Invitational with a three-round total of 4-under-par 209 (68-69-72). Utah Valley tied for fifth overall with a combined score of 8-over-par 860 (285-283-292).
 
"We didn't get off to the greatest start today, but the team finished strong with a bunch of birdies to salvage a solid finish. I'm really proud of the way Dane played this week—he's definitely trending in the right direction," said Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran.
 
Huddleston's third-place finish marks the best of his collegiate career, surpassing his previous best of seventh at last season's WAC Championship. He carded four birdies in the final round, including three on the front nine.
 
Clement Lepine recorded a 2-over-par 73 in the final round, finishing tied for 22nd with a three-round score of 3-over-par 216 (72-71-73). Lepine posted four birdies in his final round, with three coming on the back nine.
 
Ethan Efford shot a 3-over-par 74 to finish tied for 31st with a 5-over-par total of 218 (74-70-74), recording three birdies on the back nine in his final round.
 
Paxton Maxwell moved up three spots on the leaderboard with a 2-over-par 73 in the final round, tying for 36th at 6-over-par 219 (71-75-73). Maxwell had three birdies on the day.
 
Ryan Seamons finished tied for 51st after carding a 4-over-par 75, bringing his three-round total to 9-over-par 222 (74-73-75), including three birdies in the final round.
 
As a team, Utah Valley shot an 8-over-par 292 in the final round to secure a tie for fifth place on the 12-team leaderboard with a three-round total of 8-over-par 860 (285-283-292). The Wolverines finished ahead of Washington State (+11), Seattle U (+17), Cal State Fullerton (+19), Idaho (+21), Tarleton State (+25), and High Point (+30).
 
UC Irvine won the team title with a 4-under-par 848 (288-275-285), while Washington State's Sam Renner took individual medalist honors with a 10-under-par 203 (67-67-69).
 
Utah Valley will continue fall play at the Utah Shootout, held at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, Utah, on Monday, Oct. 14.
