UVU Set for Three Games in Three Days at Samford Thanksgiving Invitational

UTAH VALLEY SET FOR THREE GAMES AT SAMFORD INVITATIONAL
Utah Valley continues a seven-game road stretch with three games on back-to-back-to-back days at the Samford Thanksgiving Invitational against West Georgia, Samford, and North Dakota State, Nov. 26-28, at the Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Alabama. The games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and on the Wolverines Sports Network (960 AM/103.9 FM in Utah County and 98.3 FM/101.5 FM HD2 in Salt Lake).

Utah Valley earned a thrilling 77-75 road win at Murray State, highlighted by Tanner Toolson's game-winning putback with 0.8 seconds left. Carter Welling led with a career-high 19 points and nine rebounds as UVU dominated the glass (40-27) and scored 46 points in the paint.

After opening the season with two games at home, Utah Valley will be on the road for over a month with seven road games. The team will travel 15,180 miles during non-conference play, including trips to Murray, Kentucky; Birmingham, Alabama; Stanford, California; Harrisonburg, Virginia; Jacksonville, Alabama; Pocatello, Idaho; and Ogden, Utah. UVU will play 10 of its 14 total non-conference games on the road, with its next home game on Dec. 11 against North Dakota.

BROADCAST INFORMATION
This week's games at the Samford Thanksgiving Invitational will be broadcast live on ESPN+, which is available on the ESPN app and at ESPNplus.com. Blake Gardner and Boyd Kaiser will be on the call for the ESPN+ broadcast. The game will also be broadcast over the air waves on the Wolverine Sports Network with Jim McCulloch on the call. The radio broadcast will be aired live on ESPN 960 AM/103.9 FM radio in Utah County and 98.3 FM/105.1 (HD2) in Salt Lake City with a live stream available at ESPN960sports.com. Brice Larson will host the pregame/halftime/postgame show for the game.

ABOUT WEST GEORGIA
West Georgia enters Tuesday's game against Utah Valley as a first-year NCAA Division I program competing in the ASUN Conference. The Wolves are 0-6 this season, coming off a 64-54 loss at Georgia Southern on Saturday, marking their sixth straight defeat. West Georgia is led by Shelton Williams-Dryden, who has tallied a team-best 97 points and 47 rebounds this season, including a career-high 21 points in the loss to Georgia Southern. Head coach Dave Moore, in his seventh season at UWG, guided the Wolves to the Gulf South Conference championship and an undefeated home record last season before transitioning to the Division I level.

ABOUT SAMFORD
Samford enters the Thanksgiving Invitational with a 4-2 record and features a high-scoring offense averaging 97 points per game, ranking fifth nationally. The Bulldogs are led by Jaden Brownell, who averages a team-high 16.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Despite a hard-fought effort in their last outing, Samford fell 83-75 at Michigan State, a game in which they jumped to an early 21-9 lead but struggled with turnovers and second-half scoring. Brownell led the team with 19 points, while Josh Holloway added 14 and Rylan Jones dished out eight assists. Known for their balanced attack and defensive pressure, the Bulldogs will look to bounce back after facing a tough stretch of games in a short span.

ABOUT NORTH DAKOTA STATE
North Dakota State comes into the Thanksgiving Invitational with a 3-3 record, highlighted by an impressive overtime comeback win at Santa Clara earlier this season. The Bison, who rank 18th nationally in fewest turnovers per game (9.0), are led by senior Jacari White, who averages 17.0 points per game and has hit 44 three-pointers this season. Known for their sharpshooting, NDSU averages over 30 three-point attempts per game and made 15 treys in their victory at Santa Clara. Sophomore Darik Dissette is coming off a career-high 16 points and seven rebounds in their last game, while the point guard duo of Brennan Watkins and Andy Stefonowicz have combined for 26 assists against just nine turnovers. The Bison will face Utah Valley for the 10th time in program history, with NDSU holding a 5-4 series advantage.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE WOLVES
Utah Valley will take the hardwood against West Georgia for the first time in program history.

LAST TIME OUT: Utah Valley 77, Murray State 75 (Nov. 22 - Murray, Kentucky)
Tanner Toolson's putback with 0.8 seconds remaining secured a thrilling 77-75 road victory for Utah Valley over Murray State on Friday night at the CFSB Center. The win marked just the fourth non-conference home loss for Murray State at the CFSB Center in the last seven seasons. The Racers boasted a 30-3 (.909) record in non-conference games at home entering Friday night's game against UVU. With the victory, the Wolverines improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Racers dropped to 3-2.

Utah Valley ranks fifth in the nation in blocks per game, averaging an impressive 7.3 swats per contest. Nine different Wolverines have recorded a block this season. Carting Welling leads the team with nine swats, followed by Hayden Welling  and Cory Wells with six apiece. 

LEONHARDT ONE OF THREE PLAYERS NATIONALLY WITH 5.5+ ASSISTS AND 1.3 OR FEWER TURNOVERS PER GAME
Utah Valley redshirt sophomore guard Trevan Leonhardt is one of only three players in the nation averaging 5.5 or more assists per game while keeping turnovers under 1.3 per contest. He ranks 44th nationally at 5.5 assists per game while averaging just 1.25 turnovers. 

POTTER ONE OF TOP SHOOTERS IN THE COUNTRY
Junior forward Ethan Potter has started the season a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line. He's one of only 97 players with six or more charity stripe attempts that is yet to miss a free throw this season. Potter is shooting an impressive 67.7% from the field this year, which ranks him 23rd nationally and second in the WAC.

UVU RANKS TOP-20 NATIONALLY IN MULTIPLE STAT CATEGORIES
Utah Valley ranks in the top 20 nationally in multiple statistical categories. The Wolverines are fifth in blocks per game (7.3), 15th in rebound margin (12.0), 16th in field goal percentage (51.8), 22nd in free throw attempts per game (27.8), and 33rd in free throws made per game (19.3). UVU also ranks 33rd in effective field goal percentage (57.8), showcasing their efficiency on both ends of the court.
