UTAH VALLEY HOSTS UTEP ON SATURDAY AT UCCU CENTER
Utah Valley will continue play at the UCCU Center on Saturday afternoon against Conference USA foe UTEP. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and on the Wolverines Sports Network (960 AM/103.9 FM in Utah County and 98.3 FM/101.5 FM HD2 in Salt Lake).
Utah Valley opened the 2024-25 season with a decisive 92-57 victory over Western Colorado on Monday night at the UCCU Center. Tanner Toolson and Hayden Welling led the team with 15 points each, while Dominick Nelson and Carter Welling added 13 points apiece. Toolson shot 6-of-12 from the field, including three 3-pointers, and Welling was perfect from the field, going 7-of-7. Utah Valley dominated the glass with a 43-24 rebound advantage and outscored the Mountaineers 52-30 in the paint.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, which is available on the ESPN app and on ESPNplus.com. Brandon Crow and Ethan Jordan will be on the call for the ESPN+ broadcast. UTEP, a program with a rich history, won the 1966 NCAA championship and became the first team with an all-Black starting lineup to win the title, a milestone famously portrayed in the film Glory Road. UTEP heads to Utah Valley for its first road test of the season, following a dominant 102-55 win over Division II Sul Ross State in its opener. In that game, Ahamad Bynum led the Miners with a career-high 20 points, supported by Trey Horton III and Otis Frazier III, each with 17 points, and Corey Camper Jr. with 11. UTEP showed impressive shooting, hitting 56.5% from the field and 51.9% from beyond the arc, including a combined 11 threes from Bynum and Horton. The Miners forced 26 turnovers, capitalizing on fast breaks and bench depth. This matchup against Utah Valley is the first of three games against WAC opponents as part of the CUSA/WAC scheduling initiative.
CONFERENCE USA/WAC SCHEDULING INITIATIVE
Utah Valley's game against UTEP marks the first of two matchups this season for UVU as part of the CUSA/WAC scheduling initiative. The Wolverines will also travel to Alabama to face Jacksonville State on Dec. 14. Now in its second season, the initiative saw UVU go 1-1 against CUSA opponents last year, with a 79-73 road win at Sam Houston and a 73-69 home loss to Liberty.
