OREM, Utah – Utah Valley wrestling returns to action after an exciting opening week with a dual against No. 3 Nebraska in Lincoln. The dual will begin at 5:00 p.m. MT on Friday, Nov. 8, inside the Devaney Center.
The Wolverines won their opening duel of the season with a 25-15 win over No. 23 CSU Bakersfield. The night included three bonus point victories, starting with two consecutive with

Utah Valley captured eight champions on Saturday at the Menlo Invite, including having the first-place finisher and runner-up at 125, 133, 141, and 149. 17 of the 22 registered in the tournament placed in the early season tournament with
Bridger Ricks,
Kase Mauger,
Haiden Drury,
Ryker Fullmer,
Terrell Barraclough,
Caleb Uhlenhopp,
Kael Bennie, and
Jack Forbes.
ABOUT THE HUSKERS
The Wolverines will visit Lincoln for Nebraska's season opener. It will be the third matchup all-time between the schools, with UVU trailing the series 0-3. The last meeting came back in 2018 at the Journeymen Northeast Duals with a 19-15 result in favor of Nebraska.
This year, the Huskers feature one of the deepest lineups in the country, with the potential to see all ten starters ranked nationally. The night's top matchups could include Drury potentially going against Utah native and current No. 4 Brock Hardy and Barraclough likely favored over No. 20 Bubba Wilson.
UPDATING THE RANKINGS
Barraclough finished last week 5-0 and this week moved up to sixth in the InterMat poll, with FloWrestling listing him at No. 7. He is the third highest ranked in the conference in both polls and took the highest climb in the Open Mat poll, climbing up to third.
Drury moved up to the 27
th spot in the InterMat poll after his 6-0 weekend and is currently the ninth-ranked from the loaded 141-pound weight class in the Big 12.
LAVALEE SET TO COMPETE IN NEW YORK CITY
UVU assistant coach Joey Lavallee will return to action at Bill Farrell Memorial International this weekend. The annual tournament, which has been held at the New York Athletic Club for over 60 years, is an international competition held during the month of November. Lavallee will compete in the 79kg weight class. His last competition was the USA Wrestling Senior World Team Trials in September.
