NEW YORK — Utah Valley redshirt senior forward Omar Yehya is among the 477 eligible athletes hoping to hear their names called as Major League Soccer holds its 2025 SuperDraft on Friday.
The draft is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. MST as expansion club San Diego FC kicks off the proceedings with the first overall pick. Each team will have four minutes to make a selection in the first round and three minutes in the second and third rounds.
Yehya is hoping to become the second Utah Valley men's soccer player to be drafted, following in the footsteps of Jojea Kwizera, who was selected 15th overall in the 2022 SuperDraft by CF Montreal. Yehya is also one of 20 athletes from WAC schools listed among MLS' draft-eligible players.
Yehya capped off his collegiate career with one of the most impressive offensive seasons in Utah Valley men's soccer history. Yehya scored a WAC-leading 12 goals and added three assists for a total of 27 points, tying the program record for a single season. Yehya's 12 goals were the most scored in a regular season in program history and second most overall. At the end of the regular season, Yehya ranked tied for seventh in the nation in goals scored.
Yehya's performance garnered him numerous postseason accolades, including first team Academic All-American, first team All-Far West region, and first team All-WAC. Yehya is the second Wolverine to earn All-Region and Academic All-America in the same season, joining Paul Hoffmeister who did it in 2016.
