Utah Valley set to host North Dakota on Wednesday night

UTAH VALLEY RETURNS TO UCCU CENTER TO HOST NORTH DAKOTA
  • Utah Valley returns to the UCCU Center for the first time in over a month on Wednesday night to host North Dakota. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at the UCCU Center. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and over the airwaves on the Wolverine Sports Network.
     
  • Wednesday night's game will be Native American Heritage Night in partnership with UVU's Center for Intercultural Engagement. There will be special performances throughout the game to celebrate Native American Heritage.
     
  • Utah Valley wrapped up its seven-game road stretch with a 78-61 loss at James Madison on Saturday. Osiris Grady scored a season-high 12 points, while Tanner Toolson added 10 with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. The Wolverines shot a season-low 33.3% from the field and 23.8% from three, while JMU hit 50% overall and from beyond the arc. UVU now returns home with a 4-5 record.
     
  • After opening the season with two games at home, Utah Valley spent over a month on the road with seven straight road games, culminating in a setback at James Madison on Dec. 7. The Wolverines will play 11 of their 14 non-conference games on the road, traveling a total of 15,180 miles during this stretch. Key stops include Murray, Kentucky; Birmingham, Alabama; Stanford, California; Harrisonburg, Virginia; Jacksonville, Alabama; Pocatello, Idaho; and Ogden, Utah.
     
  • Carter Welling was named the University Credit Union WAC Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 2 after averaging 16.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game over three games at the Samford Thanksgiving Invitational. The Draper, Utah native recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds against West Georgia and added 14 points and 10 boards at Samford
     
  • Utah Valley completed a challenging nine-day southern road trip Nov. 21-29, traveling to Murray, Kentucky, with a stop in Nashville, Tennessee, before heading to Birmingham, Alabama. The Wolverines finished the trip with a 2-2 record, picking up an impressive last-second win over Murray State. UVU then defeated West Georgia while falling to Samford and North Dakota State at the Samford Thanksgiving Invitational.

BROADCAST INFORMATION
Wednesday night's game against North Dakota will be broadcast live on ESPN+, which is available on the ESPN app and at ESPNplus.com. Brandon Crow and Josh Kallunki will be on the call for the ESPN+ broadcast. The game will also be broadcast over the air waves on the Wolverine Sports Network with Jim McCulloch and Brice Larson on the call. The radio broadcast will be aired live on ESPN 960 AM/103.9 FM radio in Utah County and 98.3 FM/105.1 (HD2) in Salt Lake City with a live stream available at ESPN960sports.com. Larson will host the pregame/halftime/postgame show for the game.

ABOUT NORTH DAKOTA
North Dakota (4-5) visits Utah Valley following a 1-1 showing in the Big Sky-Summit Challenge, highlighted by an 80-75 home win over Weber State on Dec. 7. The Fighting Hawks are led by Treysen Eaglestaff, the Summit League's top scorer, averaging 18.3 points per game. Mier Panoam (13.6 PPG, 5.4 RPG) and Amar Kuljuhovic (11.3 PPG, 6.8 RPG) also contribute significantly, with Kuljuhovic leading the team in rebounding at 6.8 boards per game. UND boasts a strong rebounding presence, averaging 38.8 boards per game with a top-40 offensive rebound rate nationally. The Hawks have traveled extensively, covering nearly 11,000 miles so far.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE FIGHTING HAWKS
Utah Valley holds a 5-4 all-time record against North Dakota, with the upcoming game marking the 10th meeting between the two schools. UVU is 3-1 all time in games played in Orem, including a 74-68 win in UND's last visit on Nov. 24, 2018. The last time the two teams met, North Dakota defeated Utah Valley 77-71 in Grand Forks on Nov. 14, 2024.

Ethan Potter scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead three other Wolverines in double figures in a 77-71 road loss to North Dakota on Nov. 14 at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The game saw 23 lead changes and seven ties, with a large crowd of grade-school children in attendance for a field trip. UVU drops to 2-1 on the season, while North Dakota improves to 2-1. Potter finished with an impressive 10-of-11 shooting performance, just two rebounds shy of a double-double. He also recorded a block. Dominick Nelson added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Trevan Leonhardt contributed a career-high 12 points, five assists, and three rebounds. Tanner Toolson also scored in double figures with 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Cory Wells came off the bench to score seven points with five steals, while Hayden Welling chipped in six points and a career-best eight rebounds. Utah Valley shot 45.5% (25-of-55) from the field, including 22.2% (4-of-18) from beyond the arc. North Dakota shot 43.3% (26-of-60) from the floor and 27.8% (5-of-18) from three. North Dakota narrowly edged UVU on the boards, 38-37 and held a 38-36 advantage in points in the paint.
