Indoor T&F season set to open at BYU this week

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University is set to begin the indoor track & field season this week at the BYU December Invitational, Dec. 10-12, at the Smith Fieldhouse and Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) in Provo.
 
The competition begins on Tuesday with the women's pentathlon, men's heptathlon, and the throws (weight throw, discus, and shot put). The weight and discus will both be held in the IPF, with the women's weight throw and men's discus set to begin at 11:30 a.m. The women's heptathlon will kick things off in the fieldhouse, starting with the 60-meter hurdles at 11:45 a.m.
 
Wednesday will be a light schedule, with the completion of the multis, before the running events and the pole vault all take place on Thursday. The 3,000-meter races will start at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday with the women's pole vault beginning at 10 a.m. The day concludes with the 4x400 relays starting at 4:04 p.m.
 
The rest of the indoor schedule has the Wolverines competing again at BYU (Jan. 9-11), at Utah State (Feb. 1), at Washington's Husky Classic (Feb. 14-15) and Idaho State's Mountain States Games (Feb. 14-15). The WAC Indoor Championships will be held Feb. 28-March 1 at the Podium in Spokane, Washington.
