OREM, Utah – Utah Valley wrestling returns home this weekend for a pair of duals inside Lockhart Arena. UVU hosts North Dakota State on Friday, Feb. 2, at 6:00 p.m. MT and will welcome No. 11 South Dakota State on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 6:00 p.m. MT.
Utah Valley will stream both duals on Youtube.com/GoUVU with Sam Allen and Chasen Tolbert on the call. There will also be live results via TrackWrestling.
The Wolverines are coming off a 22-12 loss to No. 24 Wyoming on Jan. 20 in the home opener. The Cowboys won six of the first seven matches, with 141-pounder
Haiden Drury picking up the first win with a 2-0 decision over No. 31 Cole Brooks. UVU rallied with victories at 184 by
Mahonri Rushton, 197 by No. 17
Evan Bockman, and
Chase Trussell at 285.
ABOUT NORTH DAKOTA STATE
The Bison enter Lockhart Arena 3-7 and 2-2 in Big 12 duals. They are led by a pair of ranked wrestlers with 174-pounder Gaven Sax, who is No. 18 in the country and holds a 12-3 record. Redshirt freshman Gavin Drexler is ranked No. 28 and has a 10-3 record overall and 7-3 in duals.
ABOUT SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
No. 11 SDSU is currently 9-2 on the year and 3-0 in Big 12 action. They currently have eight of their ten starters nationally ranked, including No. 4 Cade Devos, a three-time NCAA qualifier at 174 pounds. 2023 197-pound NCAA runner-up Tanner Sloan is currently No. 5 in the country, with a 13-1 record, and is 8-0 in duals. The Jackrabbits are making their trip to Orem since the 2019-2020 season and have won eight straight against UVU after the Wolverines had won the previous seven.
UVU IN THE RANKINGS
The Wolverines had two in the national rankings with Bockman leading the way at No. 17/19 in the InterMat and Flo polls. He came in at No. 18 in last week's NCAA Coaches' panel rankings.
184-pounder
Jacob Armstrong moved up this week to No. 26 in the InterMat poll and No. 31 in FloWrestling. The NCAA Coaches' panel rankings tabbed him at No. 28.

The Wolverines will head east next week for a pair of duals with No. 19 Air Force on Feb. 9 in Colorado Springs before wrapping up the weekend on Feb. 10 in Greeley against No. 21 Northern Colorado. Utah Valley closes out Big 12 duals on Feb. 24 in Orem against California Baptist at 11:00 a.m. MT inside Lockhart Arena.
