Ethan Potter scored a career-high 23 points and
Drake Allen added 16 to lead Utah Valley in a 74-63 overtime loss to California Baptist in the first round of the WAC Tournament at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

Trailing 60-58 with three seconds to go
Drake Allen was fouled driving down the lane and went to the line for a pair of free throws. Allen knocked them down and CBU was unable to get a shot off before the final buzzer, forcing overtime. California Baptist then outscored Utah Valley 14-3 in the overtime period to secure the 74-63 win.
Potter scored his career-high 23 points on a 10 of 15 clip from the field and a 3 of 4 mark from the free throw line. He also pulled down five rebounds with one block in 39 minutes of action.
Allen scored 17 points on four shots from the floor, including a pair of makes from beyond the arc. He also dished out five assists to go along with three rebounds and a steal.
Caleb Stone-Carrawell scored 10 points off the bench to go along with a team-best three steals.
Trevin Dorius nearly had a double-double with 11 rebounds and eight points.
Utah Valley shot 39.3% (22-56) from the field with a 16.7% (2-12) mark from long range. The Wolverines were impressive from the free throw line with an 81% (17-21) clip. CBU shot 43.9% (25-57) mark from the floor with a 42.1% (8-19) mark from long range.
Utah Valley outrebounded the Lancers 36-35 on the night.
California Baptist moves on to Thursday night's quarterfinal matchup against No. 3 Seattle U.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
The two teams played through four lead changes and one tie over the first 12:13 of the game with neither team leading by more than four points as CBU took an 18-16 lead with 7:47 on the clock. CBU then scored four unanswered to go up six, 22-16, with 6:28 remaining in the half. UVU responded with a small 5-2 run to cut the CBU lead back to just three points, 24-21, with 3:42 to play. UVU then outscored the Lancers 9-4 over the final 4:09 of the half to take a 30-28 lead into the break.
Second Half
CBU scored seven of the first nine points in the second half to take a 35-32 lead with 17:12 on the clock.
Tanner Toolson knocked down a pair of free throws to get within one point, 35-34, with 16:55 to go, but CBU responded with a 17-6 run over the next 6:26 to extend its lead to 12 points, 52-40, with 10:29 remaining. Potter then scored a layup and
Drake Allen knocked down a pair of threes to spark an 10-2 UVU run over the next 3:34 to cut the CBU led to just four points, 54-50, with 6:57 remaining. CBU then scored four unanswered to extend the lead to eight points, 58-50, with 5:52 to go. The Wolverines then scored 10 unanswered points to tie the game, 58-58, with 2:33 to play. CBU went up two, 60-58, with two minutes remaining. Allen was fouled with three seconds to go, and he knocked down both free throws to tie the game back up, 60-60. The Lancers were unable to get a shot off before the final buzzer as the game headed into overtime.
Overtime
California Baptist opened the overtime period by scoring unanswered points to take a 69-60 lead with three minutes to play. UVU only managed to score three points in overtime as CBU secured the 74-63 win.
