OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University women's basketball coach Dan Nielson has announced the signing of local product and Santa Clara University graduate transfer Danja Stafford Collins. Stafford Collins prepped at Mountain View High School in Orem and is the cousin of current Wolverine Tahlia White and the sibling to UVU wrestlers Eli and Radi Stafford.
 
"We are thrilled to bring Danja back home and have her in our program for her last year of eligibility," Nielson said. "She will add valuable experience, rebounding, and leadership from day one. Her toughness and ability to play both inside and out will add significant versatility to our post group. We feel lucky to add someone like Danja to our UVU family!"
 
Stafford Collins is a 6-foot-1 forward who first attended Eastern Arizona College out of high school, where she was an NJCAA All-American after leading the nation with 15.7 rebounds per game to go along with 17.2 points per game in 2019-20.
 
Following her freshman season, she transferred to Santa Clara in the West Coast Conference and spent four seasons on the team before earning an undergraduate degree public health and a graduate degree in psychology. With the Broncos, Stafford Collins appeared in 60 games, starting 22. Her best season with Santa Clara came during the 2021-22 season, where she played in all 31 games and made 17 starts, averaging 6.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. She dealt with injuries over the past two seasons, redshirting the 2022-23 season and appearing in seven games during the 2023-24 year.

As a prep player at Mountain View High School in Orem, Stafford Collins was a two-time all-region selection and a team captain and team MVP as a senior. She married Ammon Collins in 2023 in Oakland, California.
