UVU signs Idaho transfer Aspen Caldwell

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University women's basketball coach Dan Nielson has announced the signing of University of Idaho transfer Aspen Caldwell. The Idaho Falls native is joining the Wolverines after playing her freshman season for the Vandals.

"We are so excited to add Aspen to our program. She brings a level of athleticism and toughness that will have an instant impact on our team," said Nielson. "Her ability to push the pace and shoot the ball will create some great offensive options for us. Aspen is a great fit for our program both on and off the court!"

Caldwell appeared in all 31 games for Idaho in 2023-24 and averaged 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. She established her current career high in scoring in the first game of the season when she scored 13 against Walla Walla. Caldwell played 10 minutes and did not attempt a shot in Utah Valley's win over the Vandals in Moscow, Idaho last November.

She prepped at Thunder Ridge High School in Idaho Falls and was a three-time All-State selection, All-Area first team and High Country All-Conference Player of the Year as a senior in 2023. Caldwell averaged 22.1 points, six rebounds and four assists per game while leading her team to a perfect 21-0 regular season as a senior. She led the Titans to their first 5A District Championship as a junior after scoring 25 points in the championship game.

Caldwell's prep career totaled over 1,500 points as she broke the school record for points in a season, double-doubles, career points, career steals, and career 3-pointers made.
