OREM, Utah —Utah Valley University will compete at Southern Utah's Coliseum Championships on Saturday in Cedar City as the team continues preparations for the WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in three weeks.
 
The Wolverines sent a group of throwers to California this week to compete at the Mt. Sac Relays in Torrance. On Friday, the Wolverines had two throwers competing at the Chris Rinne Twilight Invitational at UC Riverside. Alyssa Logan set a new personal record, improving on her No. 4 mark in the top 10 in the hammer throw. Her best throw, of 53.95 meters, also earned her first place at the meet. Austin Kleinman took second in the men's hammer and was just shy of his PR, hitting 58.23 meters, as the top collegiate finisher at the meet.

Kelsi Oldroyd, Nick Forsyth and Jared Nation competed in the javelin on Thursday, with Oldroyd taking third in the women's elite heat with a mark of 54.34 meters. Oldroyd was named the WAC Field Athlete of the Week on Monday after notching the top spot in the WAC in the javelin last week. Her mark on Thursday improved on her top spot and moved her into eighth in the NCAA West Region pending the rest of the weekend's results. Forsyth and Nation both threw in the men's collegiate heat of the javelin with Forsyth hitting 61.51 meters to finish fourth after breaking his own school record last week in Long Beach.

Next week, the Wolverines will compete at BYU's Robison Invitational in the final tune-up prior to the WAC Outdoor Championships. Utah Valley is the host of the 2024 WAC Championships on May 9-11 on Hal Wing Track & Field.
