Utah Valley finishes sixth at Gaucho Invitational

GOLETA, Calif.—The Utah Valley men's golf team shot a 7-under-par 281 on Tuesday in the final round of the Gaucho Invitational at Sandpiper Golf Club to finish sixth with a three-round score of 2-under-par 862 (279-302-281). 
 
The Wolverines finish sixth on the 13-team leaderboard at 2-under-par 862. UVU was one of just six teams at the event to finish under par. UVU finished ahead of seven other teams, including Pacific, UC Santa Barbara, Incarnate Word, Boise State, Denver, Utah Tech, and USCB's B team.
 
"We had three guys that had a very nice week," said Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran. "As a team we put together two great rounds. If we can find just a bit more consistency, we'll be in a good place."
 
Dane Huddleston and Ryan Seamons led the Wolverines on Tuesday, carding scores of 3-under-par 69. Huddleston (70-75-69) and Seamons (72-73-69) each finished the tournament tied for 17th on the 71-player leaderboard at 2-under-par 214. Huddleston shot his 3-under-par 69 in the final round with five birdies, including four on the front side. Seamons fired his 3-under-par 69 with six birdies.
 
Kai Iguchi shot a final-round even par 72 to finish in a tie for 20th with a three-round score of 1-under-par 215 (66-77-72). Iguchi had four birdies and 11 pars in his final round.
 
Zachary Erskine carded a 1-under-par 71 on Tuesday to finish tied for 40th at 5-over-par 221 (72-78-71). Erskine had a pair of back nine birdies to go along with 15 pars. 
 
Ethan Efford shot a 2-over-par 74 in the final round to finish in a tie for 42nd with a three-round 6-over-par 222 (71-77-74).
 
Nevada won the team title at 31-under-par 833 (275-281-277). Nevada's Enrique Dimayuga won individual medalist honors with a three-round 12-under-par 204 (68-66-70).
 
Utah Valley has one final tune-up prior to WAC Championship play as the team travels to Windsor, Colorado to compete in the UNC Spring Invitational, April 15-16, at Raindance National Golf Course. The WAC Championship will take place April 26-28 at The Golf Club at Chaparral Pines in Payson, Arizona.
