OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University women's basketball coach
Dan Nielson has announced the signing of junior college transfer Gracie Sorenson.
Sorenson is a 6-foot-4 center who prepped at Syracuse High School in Syracuse, Utah, before spending her first two seasons of college basketball at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Arizona.
"We are thrilled to have Gracie join our program," Nielson said. "She had a fantastic junior college career that concluded with a run in NJCAA national tournament. She brings a great skill set to our post position. She is a physical low-post scorer and can stretch the defense with her mid-range jumper. Gracie is a perfect fit for us, and we can't wait for Wolverine fans to see her on the court this fall!"
Sorenson appeared in 61 games over two seasons for Eastern Arizona, averaging 7.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game during her two-year career. As a sophomore in 2023-24, she averaged 8.4 points and 7.0 rebounds and was named to the All-ACCAC DI second team after helping lead the team to a 27-3 record and a runner-up finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.
At Syracuse High School, she helped lead the team to four state tournament appearances including two trips to the quarterfinals. She was the Team Captain, Team Co-MVP, and Team Defensive Player of the Year.
