Wolverines open 2024 home slate against UC San Diego

Following an unbeaten 1-0-1 start to the regular season, Utah Valley returns to Clyde Field for the first of nine home games on the docket for the 2024 season, facing off with the UC San Diego Tritons.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT, and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+, with live stats available at UVUStats.com. Tickets can be purchased at the link above.

The Wolverines opened the season with a 3-1 win over Sacramento State on Aug. 22. After falling behind 1-0 inside five minutes, Utah Valley rallied for three unanswered goals, including two by Northern California natives Isaac Emojong and Keith Willey. Omar Yehya scored the third goal of the night to ice the game.

Utah Valley fell behind in similar fashion at UC Davis on Sunday, conceding inside of two minutes. Emojong tied the game once again in the 34th minute, but the Aggies retook the lead minutes later in the 41st off of a spectacular free kick from about 30 yards out. Willey scored once again in the 81st minute to equalize off of an assist from Naime Odeh.

Newcomers left their mark all over the first two games of the season. In addition to Emojong's two goals, Gilles Aurelien, Souley Diouf (2), and Naime Odeh (2) each picked up assists in their first games as Wolverines. Entering the week, Diouf and Odeh are tied for fourth nationally in assists and UVU ranks seventh as a team in the young season.

With his goals, Emojong made Wolverine men's soccer history by becoming the first freshman in program history to score in each of the first two games of a season. He and Willey also became just the third and fourth Wolverines overall to score in each of the first two games of the season, and the first since Zach Maas in 2018.

CLYDE FIELD FORTRESS

Since the start of 2022, Utah Valley is 8-0-4 in games at Clyde Field and have allowed just 6 goals in those 12 games, good for the longest unbeaten streak in program history. In 2022, Utah Valley went a perfect 5-0 at home, and allowed just one goal in 450 minutes played at Clyde Field. The Wolverines went unbeaten in 7 games at Clyde Field in 2023, picking up 3 wins and 4 draws.

COMING OUT OF THE GATE STRONG

In its 11-season program history, Utah Valley is unbeaten in regular season openers, with 10 wins and 1 draw. The lone draw came in Beckerman's first game at the helm in the Fall 2021 season at Canisius. UVU is also a perfect 10-0 in home openers, outscoring opposition by a combined score of 31-6 in those games.
