Utah Valley opens WAC play at Tarleton State on Saturday

UTAH VALLEY OPENS WAC PLAY AT TARLETON STATE ON SATURDAY
Utah Valley will open Western Athletic Conference play this week in the Lone Star State, taking on Tarleton State on Saturday at 11 a.m. MT at Tarleton Soccer Complex in Stephenville, Texas. The Wolverines enter conference play with a 6-4-1 record after securing a pair of victories last week, including a dominant 5-0 win over Weber State and a 4-2 road win at San Diego State. UVU has won three consecutive matches and four of its last five.

Last week, Utah Valley extended its winning streak to three matches, continuing its momentum into conference play. The Wolverines showcased their offensive firepower in a 5-0 rout of Weber State at Clyde Field, with Nixan Jackson netting a brace and Faith Webber adding a goal, while CJ Graham and Leah Wolf combined for a clean sheet in the box. UVU outshot the Wildcats 24-8 and controlled 63% of the possession in the match. Against San Diego State, the Wolverines kept up their attacking form, outshooting the Aztecs 31-9 in a 4-2 win. Webber, Ashley Garcia, Cortney Cobabe, and Sarah Oyler all found the back of the net in the road victory, while CJ Graham made two crucial saves. The pair of wins pushed UVU's record to 6-4-1 as they wrapped up non-conference play with a strong finish, having played eight of their 11 matches on the road.

Faith Webber leads the team with eight goals and 18 points, along with 70 shots, 33 of them on frame. She also has three game-winning goals this season and is just three goals away from breaking the all-time UVU career goals record. Ruby Hladek has contributed three goals and leads the team with four assists. Mia Owens, Quincy Bonds, Nixan Jackson, and Ashley Garcia each have two goals this season. CJ Graham leads UVU in goal with 36 saves, holding a 4-3-1 record and a 2.04 goals-against average.
