ABOUT CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
California Baptist enters Saturday's game at 8-7 overall and 1-0 in WAC play after a 73-67 home win over Seattle U in Riverside. The Lancers are led by senior guard Dominique Daniels Jr., who ranks sixth nationally in scoring at 21.7 points per game. Daniels has scored 20+ points in nine games this season, including a season-high 33 against UCF. CBU ranks 21st nationally and first in the WAC in free-throw percentage (78.2%) and picked up notable non-conference wins over Kennesaw State, Fresno State, and Eastern Washington. The Lancers also excel in drawing fouls and converting at the line, a key factor in several close wins this season. Defensively, they rely on Daniels' offensive firepower and timely stops to control the pace of play.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE LANCERS
Utah Valley and California Baptist will meet for the 14th time on Saturday afternoon. UVU holds a 9-4 all-time advantage in the series. The two teams split last season's meetings, with UVU winning both regular-season games and CBU claiming an overtime victory in the opening round of the WAC Tournament. Utah Valley is 6-1 all-time against CBU in Orem, with the Lancers' only win at the UCCU Center coming on Jan. 8, 2020.

LAST TIME VS. CBU: California Baptist 74, Utah Valley 63 (3/13/24 - Las Vegas)
Ethan Potter scored a career-high 23 points and Drake Allen added 16 to lead Utah Valley in a 74-63 overtime loss to California Baptist in the first round of the WAC Tournament at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Utah Valley wrapped up the 2023-24 season with a 16-16 overall record. The 16 wins under coach Todd Phillips are the most wins by a first-year head coach in UVU history in the Division I era. Trailing 60-58 with three seconds to go Drake Allen was fouled driving down the lane and went to the line for a pair of free throws. Allen knocked them down and CBU was unable to get a shot off before the final buzzer, forcing overtime. California Baptist then outscored Utah Valley 14-3 in the overtime period to secure the 74-63 win. Potter scored his career-high 23 points on a 10 of 15 clip from the field and a 3 of 4 mark from the free throw line. He also pulled down five rebounds with one block in 39 minutes of action.

BLOCK PARTY IN OREM
Utah Valley continues to dominate the paint, ranking 3rd in the nation in blocks per game with an impressive average of 6.3 swats per contest. Ten different Wolverines have recorded at least one block this season, showcasing the team's collective defensive presence. Carter Welling leads the charge with 32 total blocks, ranking 16th nationally in blocks per game (2.29) and 24th in total blocks. Cory Wells is second on the team with 15 blocks, while Hayden Welling has contributed 13 to bolster the Wolverines' formidable interior defense.
