Utah Valley Volleyball Hosts Utah Tech in Old Hammer Rivalry Showdown Saturday

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley women's volleyball returns to Lockhart Arena for its first match of the season in the venue on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1:00 p.m. MT against Utah Tech. The Trailblazers hold a slight edge over the Wolverines heading into the second match of the season. UVU opens a three-match home stretch as they begin the second time through the WAC.

Saturday's Match in the Old Hammer Rivalry will air on ESPN+ with Matt Baiamonte calling the action. UVUstats.com will have live stats for the event.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines went 2-0 last week with a pair of sweeps, first over California Baptist in Riverside, their first win at CBU since the 2021 season. They wrapped up the weekend with a victory in 3-0 fashion at Southern Utah. The Wolverines used a balanced offensive attack led by Sami Blackett, who finished with 17 kills. Avery Page added 12 and Alyssa Erickson had 11 in the two matches, with a team-high eight kills against SUU. Evalyn Chism averaged 6.83 assists/set, and Natalie Riggs finished with 18 assists per set. Bella Wooden had a strong weekend with five solo blocks in the two matches, with four against the Thunderbirds, and six block assists for a total of 11.
 
ABOUT THE TRAILBLAZERS
Utah Tech enters the match 15-3 and 6-1 in the WAC, currently tied with the Wolverines for first in the conference. They have been without Preseason WAC Player of the Year Kennedi Knudsen and had their six-match winning streak snapped on Saturday in Arlington. Salem, Utah native, Tessa Treanor finished with 11 kills in the first meeting to lead the Trailblazers over Utah Valley in four sets. Both teams enter the Top 15 nationally in blocks per set, with UTU averaging 2.78 and UVU coming in at 3.39.    
 
UP NEXT
Utah Valley will stay in Orem for its final weekend of home competition when it meets Southern Utah on Thursday, Oct. 30, before hosting California Baptist on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 1:00 p.m. MT for UVU's Senior Day.
