ABILENE, Texas — Utah Valley head coach Chris Lemay earned his 100th career victory Thursday night as the Wolverines defeated Abilene Christian, 4–1, to clinch their fourth consecutive Western Athletic Conference regular season championship.
Lemay said the group "handled the game very professionally," noting that Utah Valley "controlled most of the possession and created a number of chances."
"Obviously, we finished four and probably could have finished more," Lemay said. "But overall, I felt the way we came out and moved the ball was excellent. I'm very happy for the players. They've put in a lot of hard work, and to win a championship is difficult—to do it four times in a row is not very common. This group has done an extraordinary job of carrying that pressure and showing up game in and game out. They've been very consistent and are playing some of the best soccer we've played all year, which is obviously a good time to be in form."
The milestone win further cements Lemay's place among the most successful coaches in Utah Valley athletics history. Now in his ninth season at the helm, he owns a career record of 100-65-22, including a 59-14-10 mark in WAC play. He has guided the Wolverines to multiple conference crowns and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory in 2020 over No. 25 Memphis, and the school's first-ever at-large NCAA Tournament bid in any sport in 2022.
A historic run continues
Thursday's victory extended Utah Valley's WAC unbeaten streak to 31 straight regular season matches, a span of 1,118 days since its last regular season league loss. The Wolverines (12-4-2, 8-0-1 WAC) have now claimed four straight WAC titles and remain one of the nation's most balanced and explosive teams.
"To win a championship is difficult, but to do it four times in a row is not very common," Lemay said. "This group has done an extraordinary job of carrying that pressure and showing up game in and game out. They've been very consistent and are playing some of the best soccer we've played all year."
Milestone wins along the way
Since taking over in 2017, Lemay has delivered many of the most memorable victories in program history. The résumé includes the first-ever win over crosstown rival BYU, a 4–2 road upset in Provo (2022); the first NCAA Tournament win (2020) over No. 25 Memphis; the first-ever SEC win, a 3–2 victory over LSU (2025), and the opening of the new $30 million UCCU Stadium with a 2–0 win over Utah before 4,116 fans (Aug. 18, 2025).
A decade of dominance
Lemay's 100th victory further cements his legacy as one of the most successful coaches in UVU history across all sports. His tenure includes five WAC regular season titles (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025); two WAC Tournament championships (2017, 2020); and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including the school's first-ever at-large NCAA bid in 2022. With the program's first NCAA Tournament victory in 2020, Lemay became the first coach in UVU athletics history to lead a team to an NCAA Tournament win.
"I credit the players for the wins," Lemay said. "I didn't win any of these games on my own. I've had great people that I've worked with, staffs that have been part of this journey have contributed so much. I'm very thankful for the players who believed in what we were trying to build and for everyone who has supported us along the way."
Utah Valley has produced 49 All-WAC selections, 23 first-team honorees, and multiple national academic awards during Lemay's tenure. Since 2020, the Wolverines have posted 74 wins, ranking among the top 25 programs nationally in victories over that span.
