OREM, Utah — Year two of the Adam Hall era hits the mat on Saturday, Nov. 1 with Utah Valley University hosting the No. 14/12 Stanford Cardinal. The contest is set for a 7 p.m. MT start and is one of two duals the Wolverines will host inside the UCCU Center this season. The dual will air live on the GoUVU YouTube page as well as on FloWrestling with Sam Allen and Chasen Tolbert on the call. Tickets, including discounted group rates, are available by visiting GoUVU.com/tickets.
The Wolverines return eight wrestlers who started last season, with six of those among the probables for Saturday night. Included on that list are three seniors in Bridger Ricks (125 lb.), #25 Haiden Drury (141 lb.), and Jack Forbes (285 lb.) Other returning starters in the same weight class are Caleb Uhlenhopp (184 lb.) and Kael Bennie (197 lb.). Mark Takara (157 lb.) started a season ago at 174 pounds and has moved down two weight classes for this season. Another senior, Tanner Lofthouse, earned a starting spot after winning last week's wrestle-offs with freshmen Geronimo Rivera (133 lb.) and Zyon Trujillo (165 lb.) also winning in the intrasquad dual.
For the second straight season, the Wolverine lineup will also be headlined by a Penn State transfer. After Terrell Barraclough's storied All-American performance from last season following his transfer from the Nittany Lions, David Evans (149 lb.) made his way to Orem for his final season of collegiate competition in 2025-26. Evans is ranked No. 20 by Intermat and 23rd by FloWrestling.
ABOUT THE CARDINAL
Stanford is ranked No. 12 in the Intermat Wrestling dual poll and 14th in the first NWCA Coaches Poll. The Cardinal will be without No. 4 (157 lb.) Daniel Cardenas and No. 4 (165 lb.) Hunter Garvin, who will both be competing in Saturday's NWCA All-Star Classic. Stanford will still have five wrestlers ranked in their weight classes by Intermat among Saturday's probables. Nico Provo (No. 11, 125 lb.), Tyler Knox (No. 7, 133 lb.), Aden Valencia (No. 24, 141 lb.), EJ Parco (#18, 149), and Lorenzo Norman (No. 17, 174 lb.) are all listed on the Cardinal probables. Valencia is listed at 149 and Parco at 157 for this weekend's dual.
Utah Valley and Stanford have met 10 times prior, with Stanford winning seven times including last season's 29-12 victory in Palo Alto. Earning wins for the Wolverines were Ricks (forfeit), Drury, and Barraclough by over Garvin. UVU's last win over the Cardinal came in the meeting prior to that, on Feb. 7, 2021 in a neutral site contest in Corvallis, Oregon.
